Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

WFR Profile?

In your experience what is the profile of those who have been WFR'd the last few months? Managers? Techies? 40/50+ etc?

Middle aged white male, the new targeted species unless you kiss arse of management as others have said. Higher salary and more experience then anyone on team so in the interest of getting less expensive bodies, I’m out. Take some time to mourn then pick yourself up and keep your pride and confidence and find something better. Leverage your network as much as possible. Leverage the career service as part of the WFR package, they are good.
Good luck to you all.

Female, 50+ oldest on the team with 10 years service. The day before I was let go I received two recognition awards (shout outs). Dell Champion award to years consecutive.

I think there is plenty here for a class action age discrimination lawsuit. I don’t think Mr.Dell or the top finance guys will allow a law suit to go forward. In fact I don’t think they are even aware of this blatant discrimination. Once a lawsuit is filed, I think they will settle out of court quickly. Otherwise the stock will tank. This is not blackmailing or anything. Based on the posting here, there is plenty of room for a lawsuit. Many times, injustice in society persists because no one question them. #OLDER LIVES MATTER

Woman, late 40's. Everyone out of our group was late 40's to 60's that was laid off. I was a top performer and received two awards at the last all hands.

In my Org, two managers under the age of 40 were let go, and on my team two girls in their early 20’s were let go. It’s not just older folks.

I know a young (thirties) man and older people. I’ve noticed it’s specific roles that seem “expendable”

Woman, 50's. All younger coworkers help their jobs except one who might have special status.

My manager told me to my face that younger folks in the team are faster and better.

Women, in their 50's, especially if you won't play the s— up to your manager game. You can give 100% if the don't like you, they will either make your life miserable, try to move you, or as in this case, tell you your riffed. Management at DT prides itself on who brown noses the best. If your up your manager's butt, along with his managers, etc., etc. You'll go places. If you mind your own business, don't gossip, refuse to s— up, well then you'll never go anywhere. I'm elated that I'm out of that place, best thing that ever happened. I would never want another job at DT even if it was the last place on the earth. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY CAREER HISTORY.

Well, I’m betting there are more men than women employed at Dell . . . . From what I’ve seen, older folks with 15+ years at the company. Which completely s—s.
