So, the plan is to generate revenue with commercial data. The Smart Mobility group has been losing over a billion dollars per year, so far. Their acquisitions of Autonomic ai, Transloc and Journey Holdings Corp seem to have gone dark. The much ballyhooed startups of Chariot and GoRide have failed. Can anyone point to a beacon of hope for this group, or should we be thinking about what layoffs could happen there so that we aren't losing over a billion dollars per year until we get the commercial vehicles and the related data monetized. I think there is a lot of fat there that could be easily trimmed without losing any real knowledge.

Well it is the same problem all over the place. Employees can build things, but the management turns them to project managers who must work with startups and suppliers to get things done. A $50000 6 month job ends up being an investment of 20 million somewhere.
Look at PD and R&A for example. Isn't it that there are more "leading" projects than actually making things? Then you end up finding repetition of work all over the place. How to peal a banana thousand ways. Seriously, how many new features can one implement in a year?
If workers don’t have clear deliverables, aren’t the leaders to blame for that?
There are people that loaf around at Ford, but are talented enough to get a new job somewhere else. But why willingly leave an easy, high paying job?
Gods thing they have Ping Pong, and Foosball to keep em busy.
@cis - which "leaders" in Smart Mobility would you accuse of not letting things get done?
From what I see here, nobody is working hard, mostly because they don't have clear deliverables.
Smoke and mirrors and spending money on wishes and dreams.
I know plenty of Smart Mobility workers that want to get stuff done, but leadership don't let it happen.
