Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Operator Layoffs?

I have heard rumors that XOM will have a second round of lay-offs in November, this time for operators. Can anyone confirm this? Will it be similar percentages/process to the MPT PIL/PIP/layoffs?

Once Union sites decertify, the low performing operators are next.

In upstream USP, management has decided to not layoff operators and technicians, but they are forcing guys to transfer to assets where they don't want to go like Carlsbad NM or the Permian. They then take on the local pay structure which for most guys is a major paycut. They can't work a rotational schedule either anymore so they are forced to pack up and move entirely and work a M-F schedule, limiting OT. Many chose to simply leave the company instead.

Based on recent OSHA rule suspensions:
Company will retain Ops workers through 2021, but remove all PPE.

Saves time and money - plus nobody makes it to 55!

So they are thinking and planning ahead up there.

@ech+172xm4vX I have physically seen the plan as an option, the decision will be made in October/November during corporate plan. They may decide to push it out another stewardship but it's real.

BTRF is still bringing in new-hire classes. Wouldn't be surprised if they do layoffs at the same time with the way that place is (mis)managed.

Per many refineries functional plans, there is no cut for operations.

Yes during corporate plan the organization will most likely decide to go to 'unconstrained min' which is a plan to reduce operations as well as maintenance by 10-15%. Engineering and Process Support will see 25-30% cuts. This will happen in US sites on both Chem and Refinery most likely. There is a plan though and site management just needs a nod from their masters at HQ to do their bidding.
