@1lbp+170p1U97, 5 pm? Maybe now in the fear factor of the pandemic, up to then the shuttles were leaving at 3:45 and everyone else left by 4 pm. The campus was hubris, a pharaonic exercise in vanity , showing exactly how detached management was. Living in luxury in a glass and steel fishbowl, encouraged to live like a tech company, makes you forget the roughnecks and bubbas who make it possible. They doubled the commutes of upstream and chemical Houston people, moved the downstream from Virginia and XTO from Dallas, cramped everyone in cubicles, all so that RT would leave some sort of legacy... who knew! But life has a way of evening things out.

Brutal truths here really even if it hurts. The campus of 10K people is literally empty by 5pm - how can all work get done by 5pm when we as a company are struggling. "I am more efficient, time does not matter" argument does not work because our operating performance has been slacking. And as the posts show, even when people are there, many use their time on campus for yammer, long fitness funs, froyos, long lunches, frequent coffee breaks - the list is very long. All these activities maybe important for well-being, but if done in moderation. Unfortunately the pendulum swung the other way too much. If we want to win together, we have to put the effort to win as well (not just "talk" about winning).

@1jnt+170p1U97 - REALLY? I'm calling BS on that one! She was the one who paraphrased all of the "difficult" Slido questions in the EMRE President's Forum (2 days before the infamous Bloomberg article was published), so that he (DT) didn't have to answer what was actually asked and can claim "plausible deniability". She was the main reason there were so many angry comments on Slido at the end of the Forum. She is as complicit in what's happening as all of the senior managers.

@@kgg+170p1U97,
Actually the EMRE Planning and Strategy Manager is one of the most open and transparent managers. She is hard working and very much a doer. Down-to-earth and quite approachable. I understand the general frustration, but in this case, it is simply not correct.

Defintely true about the showers....do you really want us coming back to our desks without a shower?

It’s actually more efficient to use the gym at 10am or 2pm. No waiting for equipment or showers. In and out.

Yammer is literally no different than you guys having off-topic chats in the hallways, IMs, on a call, "ergo walks", smoke breaks, on your phone, etc. So I hope everyone complaining about Yammer is dedicated 100%, full attention.

@zci+170p1U97 - yes! The EMRE Planning & Strategy Manager has got to be the worst! Multiple posts on Yammer every day, praising people (mostly at KTL) who are just doing their job - the same as everyone else - and saying how wonderfully they are demonstrating EMRE Core Values. Pass me a bucket!

No I don’t use the gym but why does it matter. I do my work assignments as I need. I find an item to promote as a standout and that’s it. If I can do this in 2 hours a day or 10 hours a day it doesn’t matter as long as I make my supervisor happy and meet the goals I’m expected to complete.

Again this is what’s wrong with the company. Being present doesn’t equal productivity. So if you must know I have a problem sleeping so I start my day at 4 am and wfh for 2-3 hours while your still dreaming of that dividend payout.

BTW I’m on a smoke break right now.

@mxz - I bet you're someone who goes to the gym 2 hours a day and spends the rest of your day on yammer. Also, odds are that you prob don't skip lunch or work late either as most people who spend hours at the gym / yammer all day leave at exactly 4 everyday. Good try though, and also good luck defending that to your manager when you get PIPd on Nov 1!

There are managers that promoted Yammer and tell people to post there (work related). If you do not “participate” then you are not a team player! You are obviously unfriendly because you want to do your job and have no time to be “ social”.

They play the game I guess. Also are we not allowed to flex our day so gym at 2pm is fine. This is the problem with this culture at EM. Things aren’t allowed to be different just stay the same.

Take 2 minutes to post on yammer or an hour at the gym. Maybe that person works late if doesn’t eat lunch. Just do your job and don’t worry about the other person.

Don’t get me started. Look at all the sharing they posted on what they did at home even broadcasted in to all employees.. made me wonder why are they employed.. they seems to be cooking and writing D&I sharing all day! Maybe a couple of good power points slides on how they reinvented the wheel..

Agree 100%. Some of us are slaved away all day-how do these same individuals have the time to post hundreds of comments or spend 1-2 hrs at the gym?
