I think now SLSs and Managers should downgrade themselves as Front line engineers to fill the voids of outgoing talents.
Let’s test them out and see their reaction.

MC and ELT want you to stay until 3TAs finish to earn some OT for tech and peanut compensation (meal/transpirt claim) for engineers/MPT. They will pretend to appreciate your contribution for working 12 hrs daily continuously 13 days-1off roster. The agenda is to sl------r slowly after that.

If you guys resign now, supervisors will be in trouble to hire your replacement in the market. New comers will be also useless since no plant experience within short period.

EM will be more than happy if you resign after TA. May be they will force you to leave with maintenance trasformation/TMTS implementation aggressively.

So, my good friend, my advice to you is no harm applying the jobs and try to understand market condition. If you like an offer, accept it. You won't know when EM will stop loving you. Be the one who set the rule/T&C in your favors, don't be the one kena kicked out after used by EM.

Most, if not all above them, are Americans / foreigners.

Oh no, another attrition in ES.

What the company wants and what it has been doing is very contradictory. Firstly, Company wants high performance talents, but it doesnt want to pay to that standard, that is the main reason why many department could not recruit experineced hires. Many years ago, good people queue to join EM they will join even without a payraise, now they will not join unless there is a huge payraise because they know they will suffer here, if suffering without good compensation, what for? - this is also applicable to existing employees.
Secondly, company wants to "streamline" (aka downsize) reources especially in expensive places like US Singapore, however they are still hiring in these places! Of course I know it is because the attrition rate was beyond expectation, but WTF, can you let us know what your EXPECTED ATTRITION RATE? That means the company wants to get people out with so called natural attrition tactics. For those who are joining now, mass layoff will wait for you very soon when oil price plunges, and you will find you get nothing but get fxxked by the company with "natural attrition"!

Thirdly, company wants good experinced people but they donnt want to spend effort to keep the existing good experienced employees. Watching 10+ years experienced people leaving is like watching black holes being created in that position, the black holes then absorb energy and morale and faith of people who stay nearby. EM management think anyone can take the job but that is not true, the experiences in those people will only be reflected when there is a big incident, where EM believes in its "perfect documentation and systems which enables anyone to pickup jobs in a day" - lets pray the big incident is not happening to you or me.

Enough said, I personally do not think they company can go anywhere unless they allow experienced outside management level people to join the ELT CLT CRLT and make decisions. People who are born with the systen have huge blind spots which they are unable to discover and even if they discover they choose to ignore because that was the system from which they were born.

The world had read about EM’s tanking financially big time on cash deficit … leading to asset divestments and massive layoffs across the globe.
And now, EM is re-hiring again, with all out gusto … no, no, desperation!

Don’t talk about local university graduates, even Poly and ITE graduates don’t want to join EM.
It is not EM doesn’t want to hire, the problem is local people like us don’t want to work in this hazardous industry with non attractive package.
Fresh grad will choose to join semicon or tech company with starting pay of $2.6k + shift allowance. How much EM pay ($2k based on Union book).
Do you want to climb up tower and work in furnace / boiler environment? I go out to drive grab earning more than that.

Last time standard of FLS in SSM are NTU / NUS graduates, now what do we have? Direct hire from those overseas?

With low pay, hazardous environment and tough job, we can only rely on those hard working foreigners since they don’t have any choice.

I suggest HR to give PIP to Employees who cannot bring in competent people rather than offering $600 referral fee. Maybe it will work better for EM.

I am one of the interviewers, let me tell you EM is having difficulty hiring top tier talent and experienced folks from SG market.
During my time, all FCH from local universities are desperately queuing to apply EM which is their first choice.

Now we can’t find suitable applicants from local market and even going to JB for interview to get people.
Of course there will be still people like Tom, Di-k and Harry with low competency and experience who wants to join EM but the standard will be getting lower. EM can’t retain those talents from local university because they can get better package and offer outside due to market value.

Of course MC knows well about that they have all graph and pie charts data from HR why people are leaving and average competency data in every section. This is where all RSU and referral bonus came in.

To those who wanna secure high paying jobs in EM... The one who wrote this... Have u wondered why EM didn't manage to get any1 our there "who wants the high paying jobs" and need to get their own EM staff to "bring friends in and get referral of 600" ???

For those who don’t want, there will be lots more others who will want to secure high-paying jobs in EM.
And the stream of eager takers will be limitless. After all, ExxonMobil is a brand name!
They will be those even more “hungry”, with a strong passion to learn and also to upgrade their family’s life standard / well being.
Some … even to get out of the poverty cycle … wherever they come from.
So, it’s all relative huh.
