tired working in engineering with micromanaging boss. they treat us like kids even with super experience person. don't give us space to feel empower leh. do so much survey. every year but still the same. repeat same all same. we're scared of performance of course we will just follow. so these leaders just think they're the best and never want to change. not even sincere when giving good comments. so damn fake leh. everyone make fun and still doing it. so funny man. now shell gone. yes we have to stay working for EM but doesn't mean we cannot get rid of bad leaders.
Should I take the PIP or the PIL?
Good SLS or Bad SLS / Good FLS or Bad FLS.
As long as you never throw letter, money will roll into your bank. Just be a farmer don't chiong. Even if you don't answer your boss's phone call during off-work hours, no one will die, you are not a heart surgeon. You are also not Darren Woods.. Even if you answer the phone call, what kind of impact can you make? Purchase another plant in Jurong Island?
The progress path and rubrics were there for people to see, it is like an art piece being displayed at the center of a museum, for people to admire and fantasize, like wah I can earn this xxxx amount wah!!!
To help people visualize it even more clearly, they will show a few successful employees' pictures, just like how every primary and secondary school hall shows our president's picture together with their spouse, to showcase what success looks like.
After playing the game long enough you can tell, that grading A - D is how much your boss likes you, most of the time it has nothing to do with your performance. why?
If you work super hard and fast as compared to your peers.
If your boss's mistake cannot tachi to you.
If you work like 7 11.
If you can churn out 100 pages of paperwork within 1 day.
If your paperwork is always 100% correct.
If there is no finding against you during an audit.
If your phone operates like 7 11.
If you meet the 7 if statement will get an "A" for sure. But look at the odds here, how likely you will get it?
Wah, What is this dr impact on engineer?
to say in forum no one will listen leh. write here better leh. say in meeting also no one listen mah. sls stop your drama to put down other people for your Performance and putting down people in this "season". you just need one like you leh to ruin everything. engineering sls the worst i've seen liao. dr impact still can see until now leh.
U guys on an anon forum shooting SLS next day go back to work continue to glaze them lol. No pride no wonder still a loser.
Is there a pay boost when a person becomes SLS?
waiting for acquisition, hopefully by elon musk
DW pay rose to $36.9 Millions. So did you get yours?

I got 0%. He definitely got my share. No wonder he's always smiling.
PIP% Lol…Polaris. How will head count look like when it is all done? This will synergy into PIP%.
Also, KOF is there for your manager to collect dirt on you for future usage.
If your SLS/DH already made up his mind to throw you under the bus, good KOF don’t help!
Anyone knows the PIP% this year ?
@lpwoe+16zEvLP3 lmaooo loser SLS
It seems like SLS is really a redundant role… expensive postman job.
@lmnbn+16zEvLP3
Great joke of the year is your english.
SLS days are in number, great joke of the year!
SLSs the biggest waste in the company
gonna go higher since they are gonna remove more SLS
XOM shares ATH. Huat ah!
Mobil Oil reduced middle management by 50% in the 1990's. Exxon is just thirty years behind Mobil Oil. in shrinking middle management.
Exxon Mobil on Wednesday signaled first-quarter operating results would drop over the prior quarter on weaker oil, gas prices and a big loss in fuel derivatives, a securities filing showed. The biggest impact in the latest quarter came from weak natural gas prices and fuel derivatives, which reversed course after run-ups last year. Overall, the snapshot shows about US$6.65 billion in operating profit for the quarter, compared to US$11.6 billion in the same quarter a year ago and US$7.63 billion in the fourth quarter. Investors expect the company to post an adjusted per share profit of US$2.21, compared to the year-ago's US$2.83. The company also said fuel derivatives undercut gains in gasoline and diesel margins, costing it about US$1.1 billion compared to the fourth quarter. Refining maintenance costs also jumped last quarter, the filing showed. The company is expected to post full results for the period on April 26.
Just ask the Singapore "Contract Employees" what their salary or hourly rate is. Our ultimate goal is to pay "Contractor Wages" in our refinery and petrochemical plants.
@lbatz+16zEvLP3 If you think you’re good, faster leave before the next ranking as more ppl will be flushed out at same time and make it difficult to find jobs.
These supervisors were told to say the same SOP. You’re not good, room for improvement etc… make you feel like sh-t and many reasons to rank you low…
Feel like taking a career break. Have been taking the workload of 2 engineers over the past year but got gaslighted by supervisor saying that I should be able to manage my workload and prioritise accordingly. Some of the work item should have been passed off to other site. How to prioritise when every item is supposed to be important?
I feel like I might get PIP in the upcoming performance assessment. Should I just resign before then ? Is PIL considered termination ?
Just go ahead to remove 50% of DH & SLS, we still move on and business as usual! On the ground will be more efficient without many barriers to align.
Is PIL considered termination?
Good to remove those good for nothing admin section heads
Will EM give retrenchment package to middle management folks instead of demoting to lead title, coordinator or advisor?
Massive middle management purge coming up in 2024
I heard this from a reliable source in HR.
A massive purge of middle management is in its final stages now, expect many exec/reforce retirements and younger middle managers being "quiet fired" with demotions and "special assignments". Expect also external experienced hires for management positions.
Having some background knowledge of process technician and machine learning, I think it is quite impossible to replace everything with AI.
Some of the tasks still requires human to do AI cannot, tasks like troubleshooting skills and tasks like "commissioning a system", because things can go wrong and it will goes very wrong. Sometimes even the most knowledgeable person in that unit also don't expect this kind of things to happen.
Always remember, before we even talking about using AI to replace certain jobs, we need to train the AI and we need datasets of situation faces , what should we do and outcome.
If this things happen before, and the sequence of events were the same AI will be able to pick it up, and it will recommend or perform the course of action base on the previous action perform to save the plant.
Now my question is, when things happen would we bet on humans? because humans can adjust the next step of actions with care, at the sametime we also need to face the backslashes if the human perform some wrong steps. Or we bet on AI, AI will just follow the course of action key in or information had been train on the operate the plant ?
My take it will be still bet on both, when things happen, we will look at AI for information and we will use the information in hands to come out with a plan for the next course of action, it will allow the organisation to move efficiently.
But knowing Exxon they will not do this kind of innovation, because it will cost them a lot of money to do so.
Farmers lets keep farming
Harvesters lets keep harvesting
For those going to be PIP-ed
We salute you all
EM wont last forever
Cheers
This is happening in EM.Any thoughts?
Exxon will follow UPSs lead
UPS is trimming the management ranks to reduce costs, increase ownership, and flatten the organization. Like other companies, UPS realized that many levels of management increase costs while causing conflict between different management groups, reduce ownership and responsibility of the worker ranks, stifle innovation, reduce productivity, and dramatically slow decision making.
Exxon needs to reduce costs, innovate, speed decision making, and have staff and workers who act as owners instead of drones. Middle managers will be targeted during this years ranking, many will be NSI and privately told they won’t pass the PIP.
Staff will be attending meetings during the year to be introduced to the new workplace, how they add value and will be responsible for making decisions and results. The new environment will be very stressful for those who are not used to being in control or don’t want to be in control and some will leave on their own, others who can’t adapt will easily be identified and removed. Engineers at the campus will be sent to the operating facilities or dismissed. Collaboration between facilities will be handled by the Principal Engineer at each site.
KLTC and BTC will still exist, but only for monitoring (until they are replaced by a primitive version of AI) and some project work.
I agree they listen to reply, they reply it in a way that it is not their problem.... it got to a point that you don't even need to ask them... Because it is way better to communicate to a piece of wall, because at times you explain to them the issue then they will make you feel like you are the issue!
In Exxon when that meeting has a large group of people, they will listen, things that were easy to do one they will settle it first and blow up to everyone "SEE YOU ALL BRING UP THIS AND NOW IT'S SETTLE". The problem is bring up 100 problems and solve one low hanging fruits then like that lol
the problem with the boss is they don't listen to understand. they listen to reply. towards the people and also towards peers. and towards the bossses also. it's like in their blood they need to do it. it's a joke really.
re org transformation? what happened leh?
NSI target for 2024?
I’m hearing 13% in Houston and Texas.
There is no such thing called work-life balance when you are in Exxon, be prepared to work like a slave...
Genuine question, which engineering role has the best work life balance across technical, ES, projects etc ?
Time to get out of my current role and need recommendation
