MANAGERS ARE CALLING anyone who is still furloughed by the beginning of September, saying they will be separated from B&N and that a letter will be sent out. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes, it’s true. I was called by my store manager who told me, effective Sept. 4, 2020, I will be separated from my employment at BN & that I am to expect a letter stating this. No: we’re sorry. No: thanks for your 20 years of service.
I will be boycotting BN & requesting that family members do the same.
Best of luck to you all. I enjoyed the company of some wonderful coworkers for 20 years & I will miss them.
Do managers have to call or will letters be sent?
When are terminations effective? I received a call today but wasn’t available.
so I can’t imagine that employees didn’t see this coming
True . Can’t feel sorry for those who stayed.
And those who joined the company, to replace fired employees, shouldn’t be surprised either.
Barnes & Noble has been struggling for years and it needs a complete reboot in order to survive. I think that the company being taken private and the experience that the new CEO has will turn it around. The pandemic has decimated retail, with a few clear exceptions, so I can’t imagine that employees didn’t see this coming.
Yes !
There’s those who’ll say it’s not true. But I was called and fired today !
The people being laid off In NYC are so dam lucky especially if they are part time they well get to stay on unemployment till the end of the year and if they don’t find Work in the new year they can stay in u employment for an additional 26 weeks. Barnes and Noble is giving these people a gift by letting them go.
