Of course for all this wonderful new cloud stuff to sustain itself, you need to convince someone to actually purchase it. When can we look forward to that happening? When can we look forward to the cloud group carrying their own weight financially? When can we look forward to Oracle proudly announcing cloud income at earnings calls instead of the current embarrassment of having to hide the ugly truth by mixing cloud earnings with unrelated income?

OCI was five years too late to the market. Even if everything they did was executed flawlessly since then (which it most certainly was not), it would still be too late to matter. OCI will never matter nor be significant source of revenue compared to AWS and Azure.

The diminishing pool of customers who still want to run Oracle Cloud apps know those run just fine on other cloud infrastructure. That's the whole point of cloud hosting: no vendor lock-in or brand loyalty. You buy from whoever is selling throughput and cycles the cheapest, because it's all commoditized.

I still believe that oracle cloud will never be a contender. There was an article showing that Oracle never put in the money up front to fund real cloud development. They will never do it. LE works on the cheap. Can't part with his money except to prop the stock up and keep his own finances afloat.

Time to move on LE. You are now a clueless old man, we need you to move on.

OCI has not yet made any REAL money as yet for Oracle. If you exclude Exadata based services from OCI, then it's practically nothing in terms of revenue. Oracle has a long way to go before it presents itself as a player alongside AWS, Microsoft, and Google in the cloud infrastructure space. The only play Oracle has for the moment is the SaaS applications and the database. It's definitely an uphill battle.

The only things that matters are new sales. All my SC’s in Central have either disappeared or Have been moved to new roles. I’m in a sword battle, with only a dagger.

The truth is just one. Oracle does not know how to build any software that have user interface. Period. They're all horrible and slow as hell. Oracle has always been a 1 product company: database.

I don’t think OCI on its own matters too much, the key differentiator for Oracle is in the Apps Cloud, which you can say is the ultimate cloud. From what I read recently, they are already trying to find way into customers cloud plan through Apps integration. OCI can’t compete with AWS directly but as part of a total solution it might have an edge especially when you add in the database.
