According to the Facebook Group "Kmart Friends," a current manager said that his friend (who is a district manager) said that the remaining stores will be closing before Thanksgiving. To me, this sounds stupid because they already have plenty of Christmas merchandise. Any who, if anyone needs to visit a Sears or a Kmart one last time, better do it soon!

Yea sure. Old Christmas c-ap will result in this company being finally successful and reversing the last 15 years of sales and profit decline.
So, just because the stores have Christmas merchandise on hand somehow makes them immune to closing???
The liquidators will have no problem figuring out what to do with that merchandise no matter what time of year it is.
I was so hopeful there was an actual meaningful update to this thread. To my disappointment, I guess I shall go have another drink to wait it out.
Hows is going McCreepy
All that Christmas junk could be sold to a discount retailer that people actually shop at before Christmas while it still has a little bit of value.
Plenty of christmas merchandise left over from which year though?
"Plenty of Christmas merchandise"
Sorry, ugly sweaters doesn't count.
Kmart still has DMs??? For the handful left??? Sears DMs and RVPs all got furloughed back in April and none have been brought back. I personally know several that have left the company and one is now an SGM in Florida. I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish off the Kmarts, but POs have been placed, money spent, and there will be some (probably not all) Sears that will have bought product in October/November. Maybe Christmas will be the end of times, but somehow the end is not likely until the end of the year at best.
@usx+16x77OzP No it really isn't...
Fake news the Kmart chain is doing just fine
The timeline sounds right. I could realistically see all Sears and Kmart stores shut down within the next 3 months. The announcement must be coming before very soon though if everything will be shut down by Thanksgiving.
Timing is right but I doubt the lone Kmart DM would say that. The guy knows who he can talk to and they are all gone.
Cannot visit either as it stands now. None left in my state. They still don't have a buyer for Home Services, so I don't think all of the stores will be closing that soon.
Sounds about right to me.
