Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

OPS East

Ever since JS took over operations east the whole department has gone down hill. Nothing but horror stories about the micromanaging taking place. Local managers have turned the entire department into a clusterf–k.

Working under my new manager is horrible. I’ll be looking for a new job along with 7 of my coworkers (Probably more).

"All management cares about is how your stats look in oracle."

This is the most accurate statement on this site.

And don't forget that none of them have any previous experience as managers. That's the truth.

No degrees in management, no training in management, no certifications in management, and then no experience to boot.

Good thing Books-A-Million has plenty of best sellers for that sad group to peruse.

On second thought, maybe TT planned it!! Only promote useless a$$ki$$ers who will eat what they're fed!

Every manager at Windstream that I have met has two main attributes:

  1. ) They are all Narcissists
  2. ) They all micro manage

He was a bad tech who became a bad supervisor who lucked into being a bad manager so on and so forth. He was the laughing stock of the office when I was there

Network techs doing BST work and viceversa would not go over well in a unionized environment.

They have been trying to cross train the network guys to go out to cust prems and the business techs to head into the COs. Well, they give us cust prem jobs and tell us to figure it out, thats the training. I come right out and tell customers I have maintained the network for 20yrs and never received ANY training on their issue or equipment and this is a new experiment by management. Then I laugh and say the field tech that should be here is back doing my job with no training and is probably causing an outage

I was fired when RN was still around. What goes around comes around.

I was let go from the NJ CLEC region a couple of purges ago. I may not have been the best tech in the region but they decided to keep on guys that have no business being in the windstream environment. It doesn’t matter how many customers praise you. Your only as good as last weeks spreadsheet. Windstream cries about customer experience yet that’s the last thing they really care about. It’s all about metrics and numbers now. That’s why the company will continue on with it’s demise. Glad to have moved on to a company that’s run properly.

They are trying a “one size fits all” approach. Common sense has been thrown out the window to make management look like heroes. Instead of supporting the workers and making the process flow smoother, they’re making it very difficult to get anything accomplished. Terrible direction from terrible management.

As we are merging groups I now have a former co-worker in our group. We worked together at a CLEC before Windstream bought us. Well he got fired from that CLEC for running a huge theft ring. I cant believe he works at Windstream, guess they were the only place hiring criminals lol

Management cares only about spreadsheets. NE Ops went to sh– after RN was forced out. Glad I was let go. I could never work under those conditions anyway. It became a concentration camp atmosphere instead of the close knit group it was. Way to ruin an entire department. 👏

Has no passion or knowledge for the NE . Everyone is just a name on a spreadsheet. It's all about self preservation in the end.

Yeah, my manager now rolls up to him. He bad mouths him in every team meeting for a good 20min. JS was promoted because of where he lived, he was a sub par tech that just lucked into that position. Or so my manager tells me......never met the guy.
