Realistic PIP?

Did anyone choose PIP and feel like there is a chance to succeed or that it was nott th set up to fail?

Lol. There is ZERO chance at succeeding the PIP. You will be let go in November.

Why PIP when employee has no performance issues?
PIP is set up to fail the employee with document evidence since they realised you are not taking PIL, they need documentation to protect their a&&.

Wake up, don’t go for PIP trap, just pack and leave the ungrateful unethical company which never value your effort prior to PIP. Don’t waste time, go elsewhere, who can better appreciate you as a professional!
No more hard work to this UNETHICAL Sunset Company!
Good Luck.

You should take PIL before your boss terminates you and you get nothing. You can still elect for PIL and get severance until Oct 31. Not worth to sacrifice yourself.

I took PIP and about to breakdown. I always wake up in the middle of the night and wondering whether or not I will pass because just one mistake I'd make will terminate my employment. It's that bad. Not sure what to do now, I am losing hope.

If you have true medical issues then you may be able to take FMLA and use vacation for these issues. It may or may not prolong how long you stay with the company but my understanding is even if you request FMLA you can still be terminated for non medical reasons. Now if I was HR I wouldn’t open that grey area. It’s unpaid so let the employee extend by the 26 weeks unpaid and then have them finish the pip and terminate.

I don’t get it. Why take PIP if medical issues? PIL also provides medical coverage for 3 months.

Take the PIP if you have any medical issues you would like to take care of in the next three months.

As told many times before, you done F'd up by taking the PIP. You WILL be let go and there is NOTHING you can do about it. Now you are just giving the company 3 months of work that you also could have received by doing nothing.

I would love to know how this turns out for you in a couple of months.

Very supervisor dependent. Mine is designed to fail, and worse, will be solely judged by a boss that is eager to be rid of me. Talked to another supervisor with an employee that’s working on their PIP, and they talked about doing everything they can to ensure the employee passes.

Total fail - and embarrasses the 'managers'.
If your own Super says it is doable - likely a vicious sadist.
Perfect manager of the future - unless of course he's PIP'd later (was it something he said?).

Your next job - doing what you trained for, but with a different company with a Future.
His next job - graveyard shift guard in a privatized prison. (saw that earlier in posts - nice).

It’s a layoff

If what my boss told me is true, near in mind that it’s not enough to just complete your goals and objectives. You need to convince an arbitrary group of managers that you have jumped from “NSI” over “NI” to each the “Good” bucket. It’s not happening. Even if (by some miracle) you did achieve it, if you’re ranked as “NSI” again in the next 5 years, you’re automatically shown the door. No 3-month PIL. No outplacement.

Pips I have seen are realistic and able to be passed

I did PIP about 10 years ago and it was not terrible. Granted, there was not a desire of the company to reduce personnel at the time. I suspect that as bigger their desire to reduce personnel, the more unrealistic the PIP becomes.

100% set up to fail. If not due to the amount of tasks or projects expected to be completed in 90 days, then the sujective criteria used to evaluate your success.
