Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Plea to Corporate

I see a certain post has drawn the attention of corporate. To the powers that be, if you are listening:
Associate morale is at an all time low. We are stressed, frustrated, overwhelmed, and worried about our future. You can see it on our faces, in the way we act and carry ourselves. Could you please release a financial statement about the health and future of this company? Will we still have a job in six months, or should we start looking elsewhere. It would be easier to deal with the new changes if we knew there was light at the end of the tunnel. It would be easier to accept "One Belk" if we knew our financial future was secure.
From a concerned and loyal employee,
Thank You

Nobody is getting rude. Just saying what I feel. We've all worked very hard for the company and once again are allowed to feel any way we want.

Let people vent. Everyone here is just needing to vent and maybe get some answers. No need to get rude. If you've worked for a company for years and see all the changes that have come it's very troubling and frankly it hurts. So let people vent !

Don't you understand they don't care about your feelings. They only care about making money for their investors. And the person that is tired of listening to the complaining I guess your choices are your own as well and not everybody has had the same or opportunities or life. It does not mean we are blaming belk it is just it is our reality. If you don't want to hear it then don't read it. We have the right to however we feel.

I’m tired of hearing everyone complain. Go work somewhere else! Millions of people have lost their jobs throughout the world. If you can get it better at another company...... Get it!

No matter what happens you have a job. Be grateful for that.

I have just as many bills as the next person. 2 kids in college and doing the best I can. Belk is not in control of your life. You are! Only YOU can change your future.

Stop blaming Belk for your choices!

I personally am looking for another job. It's hard finding one. I just can't survive on these lack of hours.

BelkiBear is me and no one else...certainly not corporate, though I was a Regional during the first major consoldation into divisions and partner buyouts.

Known to be a thorn in the side of some at corporate. A voice of my and for teams...a loved bunch of overachievers one and all.

As I said here a while back...I railed at how
personality (the school of rear end kissing , lying and game playing) was placed above performance. Not what you and your team did, but who you blew! Took my bonuses and never said thank you to those paying me...but always to my team without whom I was nothing.

So please stop trying to figure out who I may be...I'm just another "used to be"...retired and hoping our nation comes to its senses on Nov. 3. What about Belk? Well...guess they "used to be" too.

LH, DH...if you are who I think you are, thanks for responding. Your advice is sobering, yet true. It is a difficult time right now.

Thanks annon.

Sometimes the doctor has news that's not the best...but it's honest and the truth.

I gave my blood sweat and tears...to Belk and the retail industry. Glorious exciting fun in the beginning years...waay back in the '70s...a mere shadow industry come the aught and teen years...a ghost now.

Find your happiness...find your self-satisfaction...the rest??? Times are a chang'n. And we can't stop it.

And yes...VOTE!

Belkie Bear - all true and best said. Some are obviously not keeping up with ALL that’s changing, even outside of retail.

The single best thing you can do if you are unhappy is to leave Belk.
If you are unable to leave for financial or other reasons, find your sense of personal satisfaction at work and glory in that...whatever "that" may be for each of you.

It is an old fashion quaint belief that somehow the company owes you. Does days are gone. It is a dog eat dog world in retail these days and like it or not...associates and such are way down the totem pole of company priorities.

If you do really like retail...try Target, WallyWorld, Amazon, the telecommunication stores and such for good pay and concepts of team work.

To ever expect Belk or any of the other retailers hang'n by a thread to somehow accommodate your needs, pacify your fears, never mind fulfill any life dreams you may have is to deny reality. The business world and the world in general is and has been changing by the nanosecond. Faster than nirmal humans can appreciate let alone adapt.

Stay safe, be well. Find your peace.

Want bigger changes? Upset with the way everything has been going these past few years? Vote. Vote like our nation depends on it...she does.
