STILL AT HOME OUT OF WORK, does B&N even have the decency to let us know that we won’t be asked back?
I’ve been with the company for 10 years, you’d think they’d at least send a formal letter.

Both the stores and HR have been non communicative with booksellers. They have handpicked a few of their favorites. And picked a few of the less intelligent ones to come back, most of them don’t read. The company doesn’t realize that by treating the others badly there business is going to decline further and chapter 11 will be around the corner. Can’t wait to see the going out of business sales.
Even though I was making more with unemployment I still contacted my store repeatedly and was told there weren't hours for me...some of us relied on this job for things like medical and dental benefits which we have now lost. There are a lot of unfair assumptions being made about people not wanting to work or sitting around on unemployment. I eventually decided to go elsewhere because benefits are important to me. I held on for awhile because I lose all of the vacation and sick pay that I earned over 9 years of employment. Not everyone likes sitting at home in limbo
What is the script managers have when calling the furloughed employees when possibly laying them off?
Now that people aren’t making more staying home than working. NOW they’re complaining.
What are you complaining about? Your getting paid to stay home. I’m part time and have to work even though I’d rather be home.
Are you a part-time bookseller? I know in some stores the manager is calling everyone to find out if they’re still interested in working and if they have unlimited and totally flexible availability. I know some employees have said no thanks or keep me in mind for the holiday season, if there is one
Their decency ended years ago. Even the new owners could care less. Keep calling my mgr. very evasive.
