Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

HEADLINE: the sun is setting and setting fast on Hitachi Vantara.

3 CEO's in a year! Consistently missing targets! Customers moving to competitors.

Sadly the problem with this company is that the few smart people that existed have all left or were made to leave. Insecure, incompetent, non performers of the past have been promoted. They have not got a haven't got the faintest idea what they are doing, have their own selfish motives and are creating an extremely toxic environment. The managements new moto is if anyone delivers put the lid on them, and if they can't keep it on get rid of them.

The new CEO Gajen has got a task on hand and unless he thoroughly scrutinizes the clueless cronies that sit under him he can never turn this organization around and return it back to its glory days.

Totally agree, anyone who ever closed any deal has been made to leave. Fake pipeline makers exist. Diversity in NCMT is non existent only white culture exists - gulable faces that fit !! New CEO needs to shine a light! Disgusting that honest taxpayers are feeding the scum ! Move on HV, there is more to to gain in embracing change including workforce and technology... just like Digital transformation! Transform your approach and thinking! Managers with zero portfolio loooooooooool

Does anyone remember Project Sunrise? This was when HItachi brought in SUN to rebrand and sell the RAID storage. It was a strange marriage between the two competing companies that wound up in a divorce. The only winner may have been Hitachi Limited.

Heard there is a recruitment freeze with the arrival of Gajen, do you know when this will be lift ? Is it announcing a bunch of layoffs soon ?

@btsj+16uWhWVl Someone I know positioned me for a role at HV. Is this a company worth looking at? How is Gajen to work for? And what is the Rocky movie reference here if you know - was it just a rallying cry or something more?

Nothing is going to change here. People who needed to be laid off are still working, in charge. It will be the same. Again.

I was talking about Gajn when I mentioned talkers not doers.

In cts prior to his digital business role from which he was let go, he had a super strong team. Most are still there but dispersed in different business units. When he took over the digital business org, he hired a lot of folks from Accenture, etc. who looked great on paper but could not deliver. I suspect he will try the same thing here unless he does some introspection to see what he did wrong.

Most people in this company are talkers not doers. Talkers make it to the top while doers never do - they get frustrated and leave. Glad I jumped the ship before COVID struck - looks like this place is going down a spiral ladder-which doesn't surprise me.

This is hilarious. At least Rocky had a strategy and plan. This place has none of that. I'm glad I got off of this sinking ship.

“he hired and maintained a bunch of talkers without getting the doers“ you talking about Brad or Gajen?

Trap at the old job was he hired and maintained a bunch of talkers without getting the doers. That was in his last post. Prior to that he was able to successfully balance the team. He lost sight of that in the digital business at prior company and paid the price.

The new CEO loves Rocky Balboa???
recap..
Rocky III
What he got wrong is Clubber Lang not Rocky Balboa - "the eye of the tiger" is Langs song. Rocky gets a trashing (bad one) by Lang....Just about manages to come back.
Rocky IV
Rocky still has his "heart on fire" from the previous beating.
Interestingly in this episode looks like the CEO is neither Rocky or Drago but is Apollo. And every one know what happened to Apollo.

I fear the CEO may end up as Appolo and advisors as Drago! Hes the captain at the moment let him decide his and the ships future. Make it sail or let it sink!

New CEO is fixated on having the employees get inspired by watching Rocky movies. He has no clue that he is in the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

what was the trap at the old job?

He needs to get rid of the entire top layer. My gut feeling is that we should not read too much into the current promotions he made, he needs to keep the entire top team from leaving together so that he can replace them one by one. Promoting or paying retention is a way for him to do that.

He also needs to make sure he does not fall into the same trap he fell into while at his old job.
