Next Round of Layoffs For New Hires that Started Working This Year
I just started working at ExxonMobil in August of this year as a new hire. Given the massive round of layoffs that just occurred this year, does anybody know when the next round is going to happen?
From the people that I have spoken to, the next round of layoffs is supposed to happen in the next couple of months(before the end of 2020). Given that I am a new hire, would ExxonMobil lay me and others off (those who started in June 2020 and later) even though we have just started and they may not have a method of assessment for us?
If ExxonMobil does layoff this year's new hires, are we expected to pay back the relocation ? What if we have leases for the area that we will be in and are contractual binded there? From what I understand, the 3 month full pay package was only for employees that had spent at least 1 year at ExxonMobil which means I and the others would not qualify.
Does anyone have any insight into this? I've heard of companies laying employees off a couple of months (2-3) after they have started but I don't know if this is the case with ExxonMobil. If this does happen, would the company provide any kind of assistance ?
