Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This explains most of what has happened

https://youtu.be/YeiFMirdToA

The video stops almost a year ago, but with a current Market Capitalization of $183B. Exxonmobil went from a top 10% performer to a ‘needs significant improvement’ performer who might be be put on a PIP in one year too.

“It’s not about your absolute performance. It’s about your relative performance.”

Who is the genius who brought LPS into the company? Fire that person first. What a waste of time, generates meaningless paper work and “stewardship” Everyone knows it, we just bend over and take it just keep our jobs.

Looking at the financials, this company has been stuck using an abacus for years.
Great when you've manipulated the markets and foreign governments with the ease of a finger.
But that won't work any more, it seems.

If you're an engineer, operator, SHE, IT, etc. - there's plenty of work elsewhere for a good career.

If you're an XOM manager-type - dog-shift guard in a privatized prison holds an opportunity for You.

This is what happens when companies overpay people.

Too many people, especially a lot of management guys, are just gaming the corrupted old system. It’s definitely a dead end w/o a foundation reform in XOM.

This is the price of disingenuous lip service, vast global silos and inefficiencies, lackluster innovation and diversity in the portfolio, too many cooks who are mostly out of touch, and constantly doing business with yourself in a vacuum.

Heart bleeds to see what has become of our company. We became complacent, too bloated and hollow in the middle. Too many people busy discussing culture, keeping each other informed, and stewarding what a few actually do. We did well because of our scale. We now need to de-layer. We need to stop moving people and build depth. We need individual accountability from all – including management – on how they as individuals add value. We need people with passion for the general interest of the company.

Of course, covid will pass and business will be back to normal. Still we can do better than before of we fix what is broken.

Well, they have been shedding the bottom 10% for years on end according the spokes persons and it still didn’t stop the plummet. Maybe they are shedding the wrong end?

It’s hard to imagine that the bottom 3%-8% employees did this to a major corporation. Remember, those bottom folks weren’t even working, right?
