Our newly promoted Regional Manager has been the worst at her job for years. Promoting her is one of the many reasons this company is failing badly.

Yes managers are terrible! I couldn’t stand it. Bad management. I’m more relieved than anything honestly not go back. Time to move on.

store i'm in has a long history of preferential treatment for certain employees who also happen to be friends with SMs and ASMs. right now it's mostly younger 20 something girls who get promoted. no merit whatsoever.
EVERY BN mgr I’ve known has given special treatment to some and not others ( not because they were better ,productive employees . Just personal)
Don't forget, Human Resources has always been a joke. We all know if you call them to complain about any of these losers, it goes to directly to the District Manager and then your boss! And then you're the new target. I've seen people written up for the most ridiculous things.
Our store went downhill in 2008 when we got a real mental case for a manager, one girl who used to work for them found out they were moving to our store and she warned us all and gave her notice that day. We all said we should have listened, it only got worse every year after that. I swear B&N has the biggest nutcases as managers.
Your stores sound like a really horrible places to work. We don't have any of that luckily. I would've left years ago if I had to deal with Bs like that!

Are they getting rid of District Managers? I'm wondering if stores will be even worse with all of this restructuring.
