Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

It is the high performers that threw the bus in the ditch, not the low performers

We are engineers; we have a problem to solve (poor company performance, even before covid). The next step is to look for cause. The company's path is set by RHP (Relatively High Performers); they make the decisions and steward the outcome and are handsomely rewarded. Does anyone really believe that the bottom 8% are capable of creating the massive problems we are seeing, the decade-old drag in the stock price, the choice to hang on to fossil fuels, mega-ventures to bet our future on ... plastic bags, go into massive hiring in Chemicals that we have to reverse now ... did the 8% RLPs do all that, or the RHPs? We should shave the top 8%, bet we would save a lot more $ this way

High performers at EM means a legal criminal enterprise of sad human beings who produce nothing out of a lot of things. Have you seen anything being produced by these paper pushers?

  • The great performer.

It’s common knowledge ranking was modified to drop quite a few high ranked employees. Judging comments by the individuals here with motive to distort these facts we can see why the company is in the mess it’s in.

@stg+16onHnp1 , OP here, I am using their language of classifying themselves as high performers for dramatic effect ... I do not believe they are actually performing well, otherwise we wouldn't be in the ditch

If the ranking system would foster the meritocracy they claim, it would have identified the most formidable, infalible, and great leadership and astute planning ever. Instead, it rendered this cadre of imbec!les.
The Peter principle, where one is promoted to its highest level of incompetence, is the norm at ExxonMobil.

How are executives rated, assessed, or ranked, given their glaring failures is beyond comprehension.

I guess the country that expects a reality TV star to lead a nation, also is comfortable with symbiotic leadership in the oil industry.

This is not a “downturn”, we’re witnessing the collapse of a corrupt organization managed by self serving id!ots, aka Super high, incredible, yuge performers and winners.

After all, what’s Darren visionary and innovative strategy but WINNING. 🤦🏻‍♂️

You must understand good old boy network and glass ceiling of Ivy League.

The "top" ones (the ones who steered the company in the wrong direction) are actually the low performers, they should be the ones getting terminated. I am shocked the OP called them "relatively high performers", they're not.

Get rid of the low performers. They don't earn their keep!
