Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

STX 10-k filing

Went through seagate's 10-k yesterday.

It listed 18 pages of business risks! Wow none of this comes up during the all hands happy time meetings we have. every business has risks, but 18 pages!

Exec compensation was not available. It will be available within 120 days of fiscal year end. Let's see how big the bonuses they are getting during this period of "shared sacrifice", my mgr told me about.

The address on the Seagate $10K is the Dublin executive office. Googled the address and found this: https://www.pembrokehall.ie/38-39-fitzwilliam-square

Really? Counting pages of a 10-K? You seem totally obsessed.

It is a culture of a company that has consistently lied to its employees about the business to keep them motivated just long enough to get a product out the door, collect an exec bonus and then lay them off with the script that begins "Due to economic conditions..."

This exec team created this culture. They recognize this and is reflected in the risk regarding personnel in the 10k. Execs know what they are doing and just playing with the employees.

I walked into a local store today and found out this store was closing for good, after being in business for 30+ years...interesting perspective for those sitting at home and typing up vile comments while continuing to get their paychecks.

I look forward to seeing the exec bonuses listed.

I believe the OP's point is there are a lot of risks listed but the management is always positive about the business to the employees. We all know the business is dropping and the forecast for the q shows another drop to 2.1b to investors.

If execs lie to employees it is okay, but if they lie to investors they go to jail.

Nike's risks are 12 pages, Coke 10 pages, wdc 14 pages. Not sure where the last poster pulled those numbers of pages from.

You seem shocked that all this is in a 10-K. Go look at any public company 10-K. It's a par for the course butt covering document for investors.

For comparison, I checked WDC (18 pages), IBM (24 pages), Coca Cola (214 pages), Nike (110 pages)

I'm not saying STX doesn't deserve criticism and scrutiny by investors, but trying to feign some sort of outrage over their 10-K is a whole lot of nothing.

One risk on page 24 is access to personnel due to constant layoffs and instability of the business. Glad management tells investors about the employee sentiment
