Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Were posting fictitious jobs part of the scheme?

Did we really go so far as to post new jobs to cover up the foxes ranking? Interesting I know someone suddenly getting hit with job listings at the same time as our “performance assessments” yet we have a hiring freeze?

Job postings within the Company. They fill the positions prior to posting the “open” position. It’s like the State Farm commercial with the older guy and his fishing pole, you almost had it! The job posting for the public are not for jobs in the US.

Not everyone can control the way bad mgmt choices treat employees. I’ve had no problems with my mgr but have seen bad managers destroy people.

Exxomobil does not receive unemployment subsidies; it pays unemployment taxes. You sound like a bottom ten percent engineer

If you haven't learned by now that getting in the good graces with the person to fire you is a priority, your junior high education failed you.

Ranking is not a perfect process. Give me your idea on how to cut 8%. Seniority??? This how the union contracts work. we could cut everyone hired in last 8 years, would would give the necessary cuts

So you are confirming that ranking depends on how much your missing your managers a– and not your performance.

Lots of big companies use forced rankings, and have been since the 70s. You can see a lot of people complaining about it on thelayoff.com. You're graded on a curve, and the way to deal with it is to have spent your time their not being perceived as below everyone else by whomever assesses your performance.

If that is true I can only imagine what Was told to outplacement services. Has anyone actually used the outplacement?

That’s odd. They have over hired and I’m aware of cuts.. perhaps, cutting existing employees to benefit from the unemployment subsidies?
