Will Aldershot be wiped off?

Long story short, will Aldershot be wiped off it seems like they're trying to get rid of the accounts. With focus on being on Newcastle DTC.

What purpose will Aldershot serve in the future?

So many offices in the UK ? Reminds me of the number of colonies we used to have ! No wonder management looking to rationalize in view of the company circumstances.

They were supposed to be closing Hook, and haven't managed that yet. because Aldershot didn't have enough of the right space. I would have thought Hook would go first... but who knows. You have to understand management mentality in this place to work out what they will do, and I don't want to have nightmares.

Not this nonsense again, Aldershot is safe as much as any office and the poster is out of touch, DTC's don't exist as of last reorg. Newcastle office already shrunk in the last few years. So Newcastle, Aldershot and fancy schmancy Kings Cross offices "safe", Erskine despite being by all accounts a total ****hole is probably safe too, every other UK office's future is in the air.

The difference is...

RP is owned by DXC (it was designed and built for CSC) and the majority of the space is rented out - has been for years.

Chorley is rented.

Chorley is full of ex BAE staff and newbies.

A real office full of dross.

Suprised not closed down years ago. BAE not that fussed over contract and have watered it down substantially over the years.

Aldershot is brand newish, like royalty, it's called The Royal Pavillions Aldershot, great marble hallways, open glazed spaces with views, expensive coffee machines, toilets the size of offices, a 5 star canteen, acres of lush green grounds with trees, and on.... cost Millions per year.

Chorley is a run down 1950s block, carpets worn out, not enough toilets in the building so you have to queue or run around the building to find a free toilet, outdated everything pretty much, on a rundown industrial site so no lush gardens, cost a tenth of Aldershot to rent. Full of Victorian style managers who seem to be in a old boys network so miss every wfr as they scratch each others backs, even survived the recent so called L5 to L8 culls.

No brainer why would you pay 10 times the cost to keep Aldershot, just because its luxury?

It's on Mike's radar and will be going as it's too expensive to keep running.

Chorley is mostly full of self-serving never-beens, a few want to be's and a whole load of dross. The only useful staff in Chorley are the security guard and the cat.

They've been trying to close RP since just after it opened!! The for sale board has been up for years.

It had a more recent life extension when several L_ES offices got emptied into it but the goal was always to get rid of it.

With the world having changed though I don't suppose anyone is likely to buy it, any more than DXC intends to re-occupy it.

I've been told that more broadly across DXC "return to the office" is unlikely for most people (presumably WFH or WFR) and that even in Tysons they aren't planning for people to ever come back. Nobody there will be "based" there, the space will be reduced and it will be for customer meetings only.

The CEO built himself a private bunker down in Charlotte (the city, not some new HR director) and never intends to go back to Tysons.

Move all the functions to Chennai or Chorley.

You can enjoy those canteens rather than the over indulgent one.

Pigs and troughs come to mind.

I think on the last (Global) Delivery townhall they said that offices were one of their largest expenditures and it was something they were looking at.

There has already been some office closures in the UK, the Birchwood (Warrington) office closed last year.

The strategy is presumably a smaller number of offices that are larger or utilised more heavily.

A lot of people are working from home now, will they come back? If productivity has not been hit it's presumably cheaper for the company as they don't have to pay for office space, power etc!
