Did anyone find Woods' explanation all bs about why suspending 401(k) being the best option?
Why not cutting the dividend? XOM currently is sitting at 7.96% dividend with a market cap of $185B. If they cut just 1% in dividend, that would save $1.85B per year. For cutting 401(k), it will only save about $500M based on the $110K average salary for XOM employee in North America but will affect the retirement of many lives.
In Woods' email, there was not a single word about considering to cut the dividend. All he did was trying so hard to make excuses for his actions on 401(k) suspension and trying to pretend that XOM has not done layoffs yet. Other oil majors have already or are considering to cut dividend. What's so special about XOM to not cut dividend? Why did Woods try so hard to protect the dividend? He is putting the people, including himself, who will most benefit from the dividend, above the company employees' welfare.
I have never seen XOM leadership so incompetent and becoming rotten to the core like this! It's just disgusting!
