Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Glenn shapiro

The leadership and greed of Glen Shapiro destroyed a once great company in Liberty Mutual...
The damage of his attack on the employee base contributes to reverberate to this day....
It looks like he is doing the same thing at Allstate.

I worked at Allstate for a long time when he came on board the writing was in the wall destroyed the company treated everybody like they were nothing over worked everyone. Had no clue how to run Allstate as you could see by his track record did the same to Liberty Mutual. The company is a joke now and in decay. They need to clean house get rid of the upper mana and start fresh

The problem is that there’s so much indifference in upper management that he was battling. Look at the caliber of leader the company had to deal with particularly in the claims arena.

Some of the “talent” he along with his minions brought in is embarrassing. Many very shady HR changes were made right after he was brought in.

The years under Glenn Shapiro where the worst in my 45 year career. He totally abandoned customer first and managed only for profit. He also damaged the company by hiring from the outside for upper level positions and abandoning promotions from within. All these hires came came from inferior companies. It is Tom Wilson’s fault and a new Chairman needs to come from within the company.

I have been with Allstate almost 33 yrs and have never see it so bad. They say that the customer is their #1 priority. We have so much behind the scenes work to do, ie goals to reach, etc that we don't have enough time to assist our customers. I believe it's all about the money for the guys in the "oval office". They don't give two sh--s about the employees who actually handle the claims and have a relationship (or what we used to have) with the insureds. I thought the last few years before retirement was supposed to be enjoyable. So sad :(

He is doing the same exact thing here at Allstate. The company is a shell of what it once was. The company is in absolute kaos right now and I don’t know if it will ever pull out of the tail spin but yet they buy the General for 4 Billion and are in the process of dissolving essurance, a company they bought 10-15 years ago for 1 billion if I recall correctly. Morale across the board is not just low. It’s zilch, zero, nada. I have never ever seen it this low in the 20+ years that I have been working here. Employees who did not get cut and given a severance package are now quitting, going to work for a competitor, opting for a career change as they can no longer stand this industry. Some have opted to retire or retire early at 55 and over just to get the hell out of here as they have made the daily grind painful. Very painful. It’s actually daily torture. 10 year or less employees are giving minimum of two weeks or less just pulling the plug and leaving this once upon a time career and now just a job and a paycheck. I hate the way I am treated and hate seeing my colleagues treated the same way. I hate seeing the look of mental anxiety on their face or in their voices. I hate being bombed by Allstate commercials on a nightly basis. The are spending billions on advertising annually but will not give out yearly merit raises and will go out of their way to knock you down with vicious re inspections and reviews. We are all targets on all these stupid out lists that were not around a few years back but have now populated within. God forbid you are on the bottom of a list and watch out if you are low rated on one of the multiple micro management lists that most in Allstate mgt don’t know what they are, what the relevance to what the real lists are that affect the bottom line numbers. I would never ever give a referral for employment here nor would I ever give a reference to buy any of the companies products as they are not what they used to be. -Riding out my time as long a I can keep going through this period of what they are calling “Transformative Growth”. It’s the same story country wide when I speak to reps from other states . Same sad story. Happy Liberty got rid of him but it’s obvious the poison is still in the veins over there. God only knows what the ultimate game plan is here and if there will even be a personal lines in the future. Half of the company is now in Pune India.

The conspiracy theorist rages.

How many executives get paid well? What is his salary compared to them? How about the executives that have contributed nothing?

At least he is out there doing something, you're just seeing ONE face and jumping to conclusions.

Maybe Glenn is a fall guy? Perhaps this has been going on a lot longer than since he arrived?

Since Glenn Shapiro arrived I could tell there was something extremely shady about him. He pitched a get rich quick scheme to Tom and them. If you thjj in la about what he’s been doing is pretty much making the company look profitable on paper by “cutting cost” aka chopping employees pushing claims thru foto and virtual estimate with the hopes no one will repair their vehicles. So no new income no real growth, but all the big players who get bonuses keep getting fatter bonuses. He’s a snake oil salesman. Up top they are happy with him now because their fattening their pockets but by the time they realized they been hoodwinked he’ll be long gone. With all this going on I’m definitely sure it’s the makings of A Netflix Dirty Money episode titled “Allstate...good hands??” The story of Allstate’s demise at the hands of Glenn will be told. I’m sure at some point it will show Tom having to testify before a senate committee.

I was a part of the field group that found another position in the company. I should have seen the writing on the wall and taken the severance package. At least I would have felt like I got what was owed from them but no, I decided to stay loyal and saw how it changed for the worse. Glad I got out last September.

Send the Message! They'll see #mayhem face to face if all of the people they select to stay quit after they are told they won't be sacked. That's why EVERYONE should start looking now.

First they came for the MOI, and I didn't speak up because I was not in MOI.

Then they came for the Field Inspectors, and I didn't speak up because I was not a Field inspector.

Then they came for total loss, and I didn't speak up because I was not in Total Loss.
