Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Ageism And Anti-Disability

CVS is among the worst when it comes to short staffing. Pharmacists and Managers have been making some immoral decisions to get things done. Like firing older people and turning down hires who have physical disabilities. They are more likely to struggle to get things done under these done under such tight budgets. I have felt sick to my stomach to have to make these decisions. I willingly take blame for my part, but when will CVS take the blame and change course.. We are not robots. Young people will eventually become old too. It’s irresponsible to not create the conditions for fair employment opportunities.

Is CVS worse than Barnes & Noble? They're really saying bad things about that place.

I worked for cvs for 11 years. No write ups. Never been a problem. Came early when needed left late when needed. Was a Supervisor. Got terminated because they said I was outside on my phone on the clock. I'm 59. Four other people I used to work with all got terminated for stupid reasons in the past three months.

Omg that last post sounds just like my store - it’s crazy - only difference is I get 12-15 pallets - 10 is bad but sounds pretty good compared - it takes us a week to get 900 pieces out
Just me and a cashier - 69 RED TOTES- uuuhhhhh - vendors , photo,
Carepass - and me and a cashier 12 deep in two lines - I keep a pocket full of ones 1$ -,no kidding to keep line moving when a customer starts whining about their dollar coupon - I just say - I got it and pull out a dollar and keep going - lots (tons) of meth heads today - stealing us blind - do they not realize how they stand out very obvious - nasty

How is poor performance justified if we don't have the demand hours to get half the work done? Next week I have 178 hours on a budget of 50k! Price changes and 99 quick picks just about every morning take up the little overlap we have. Yes, I have a heavy promo and couponer store. Add in photo, Moneygram, Pay Near Me. Who has the time to do POGs?!?!?!?! Monday I have 10 skids coming and 32 demand hours to get truck put up in 24 hours. This company has turned in to a joke!

The company thrives off people with high ambitions. Eventually those people hit a wall. I see it regularly. A new ambitious flock are motivated, work hard, and realize they’re not going anywhere because they were busy developing “me” centric strategies covered up by a weak “team work” persona....Then reality sets in.

They talk bad about others, and make running a store look easy. “Why can’t everyone be not lazy like me?!” (See previous post.)

These people never get promotions cause no one trusts them.

While everyone else tries to balance personal lives, families, hobbies, and other passions...These narcissists keep the wheels of the companies regressive work conditions treading on. And for what? A mild increase here and there?

Y’all are just lazy. Hard work pays off. I’m a store manager and I keep my store in tip top shape and barely work over 45. I walk into other stores and most look like the dollar tree. I don’t get it. Job really isn’t hard. Stocking and facing isn’t hard. Vacuuming isn’t hard. This new generation is so lazy. If you put a little bit of work into it you will succeed.

To the prior commenter... if the the job is easy, why does CVS have such bad reviews on glass door? Why is CVS one of the most active boards on “the lay-off”? Why are their so many articles about CVS’s short staffing practices?

Just in terms of fact base science... physical and cognitive decline manifests as you get older. And CVS does not allocate hours for spillage. They want robots, or at worst adderal infused yes men.

And you my friend are at the most, a yes man with a carrot held over your head. That ambition will begin to decline with time though.

Also I forgot to mention that I know 60 somethings that work harder than 20 and 30 somethings.

I never discriminate when it comes to hiring. However, if someone can’t complete tasks in a timely manner and is having consistent trouble getting work done when it needs to get done. That’s poor job performance in my eyes. The job itself is easy. If you can’t do your job then you’re going to eventually get the axe.
