Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Best - Worst : CSC (best) - Covansys - HPE (Nightmare)

Best to Nightmare : CSC (best) - Acquired Covansys (worst) - Acquired HPE (Nightmare)

These acquitions are clear example of declining graph of DXC, it's was best company at one time but day by day, acquisition over acquisition made much worst. Management doesn't care of employees, if you are lucky to have good manager he might save your butt but morale and environment is so pathetic that work motivation level is beyond worst. Up to L5 everyone is trying to save there a– just by pretending that they are doing something but matter of fact no body works but show up every day and do nothing productive. God know how this company is surviving. May be some other employees have contradictory to my views because of having a good managers. DON'T JOIN OR JOIN ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SAVE YOUR BUTT. THIS PLACE HAS BECOME JOKE.
Every time merger happened, new management comes in from acquired companies and all they do is layoffs, these is ongoing for last 6-8 years. In my over span of decade all I have seen is every year change in leadership, they come and bring their own team from outside. Pathetic management politics and worst treatment to employees.

HP's downfall was its merger with Compaq. HP was a leading manufacturer of scientific instruments, LaserJet printers and calculators. EDS lost focus after Ross Perot sold it to GM and bought it back. I don't know what happened with CSC, but it used to have a good reputation years ago.

I mean, offshoring to places isn't exactly helping. It might be cheaper, but in my experience, it doesn't usually deliver the required results. It might be cheaper in the short term, but harms your (already troubled) client relationships and the quality of your delivery.

The fact that the original poster is saying they sit their doing nothing all day is the problem with the company. So many managers, but nobody actually managing anything. Get rid of them then. (Wasn't that what the last round of redundancy was meant to be for? How did that turn into sacking a load of engineering staff again?)

The people at the top deserve a fair crack at turning DXC around (I know I'll get slated for that), but they also need to realise they're starting to lose the faith of their workers who are sick of the broken promises (payrises) and lack of vision and strategy.

What even is our current strategy? I've been on all the town-halls and I still don't know what it is.

I understand your comment about HP was great, but the only reason i did mentioned that CSC was great because every-time acquisitions happened, the Sr. Management who had power were acquired company leadership. For Ex HPE Leadership, Covansys, Leadership. They ruled the company. And moreover things went south with under GREAT LAWRIE. Probably same thing happening now under Sal, he sounds like he is trying but guess it's beyond his control and he continue to cruise ship in same direction even if he doesn't want to.

We could also call it as -

  1. HP was great - a proud icon (at one point of time had lake and employee cabins, wherein employees can go in the summer and stay/vacation in the cabins - true story)
  2. Bought EDS - start of the problem !
  3. HPE formed - Mediocre (but way better than what we are now)
  4. HPE Services merges with CSC to form DXC (again it is a merge - nobody bought nobody to be precise) - THIS IS WHERE WE WENT DOWN THE DRAIN - lack of strategy and foresight needed to be in the competitive services business.

Without thought leadership, you are in trouble. The instant decisions done by committee due to sycophant yes people, where any decision is a good decision because it is too late, and there was no planning or forethought is what is k–ling many of the major corporations.
I know the solution it's Cloud, micro services.....oops all that does is add another layer of smoke (cloudy), unfortunately the mirror is broken.

CSC de'accleration from good to bad was executed by ex-CEO Lawrie and went from bad - to worse when DXC was formed, still hasn't improved at all by the current CEO SAL.

CSC was a mess for years to be fair. CEO after CEO have run the place into the ground with zero forward thinking strategy.
