Anybody got regrets moving there family from Fort Worth to the compound in Houston ? Just curious. Are you better off now if so? Me and my wife thought about going for about a split second and said no thanks. I never met one Exxon implant in ft worth that was down to earth and not a arrogant robot douche. It was a big red flag when ortwien lady blatantly lied saying some bs about collaboration was the reasoning for the move.

Seriously now, mourning leaving one Texas backwater for another? What did you miss, the cattle drive? Rodeo not good enough for you? 2,500 of us got shipped to Houston from DC Metro because if Rex/Neil Chapman/ Mike Brown vanity, and counting the hours to get back to civilization.. We are all in it for the money. Now the money is gone, time to look elsewhere. No need for drama and playing the victim.
I joined EM about 7 years after the merger and the Exxon folks would always point out and say they used to be Mobil. It was odd but after a while I started to pick out who I thought was who after moving positions and most of the time was right. When XTO made there way to campus you could tell and it was refreshing to have new ideas and ways of thinking trying to spread. But those Exxon folks still would say I was from Exxon thinking they knew best.
This is the problem with this company right now. Clinging to who they were 20 years ago thinking they know it all and then grooming, selecting carbon copies of themselves to continue to do it the same way as before. But as Darren said the ranking system worked for him and his ex-employee thanked him for helping her move on is the only thing that matters.
Xto was not ExxonMobil's downfall Exxon was! I always enjoyed interactions with the increasingly rare Mobil folk who just seemed more competent and human vs. robotics of Exxon.
You can always pack your stuff in your vehicles and drive back to Fort Worth. I was let go may times in my career by arrogant oil/energy managers and senior employees. I've still managed to get a decent new job, relocated and shifted industries. Obviously, if I'm interviewing someone and I see big oil/energy on their resume, my action would be not to recommend, just like what happened to me when I needed a new job but learn to adapt and get a new job instead of complaining.
Is it legal to conceal a lay-off in this manner? I’m shocked at the employees being PIP’d. I guess they found the loophole to make it legal but integrity went down the drain on this one.
Biggest mistake I ever made was moving down here to the Houston campus from good old XTO Fort Worth. ExxonMobil has no integrity and cares nothing about people. Now times are hard and rather than do layoffs and call it a lay-off they are ruining people’s reputations by PIPing them (firing them) and crushing their pride and their souls by doing this. They are a machine that chews you up and spits you out.
I am glad I made the move for the experience of witnessing the transformation of a great company I loved working for into the epitome of a company I would never want to work for. From a business and culture perspective, Exxon is awful.
