Voluntary Severance Packages

Has anyone heard of any voluntary severance packages? Has that ever happened? I just don't believe in the future of the company and rather go elsewhere.

You can always voluntarily sever. You get your Savings plan distributed. No extra money

Wish I would have taken that job offer from shell, BP or Chevron back when I was in collage. At least I could get voluntary severance now.

No. Exxon is going to get rid of people in the most cost effective way possible. Why would they pay people extra to leave when they can just PIP you and pay 3 mo salary (or less depending on years of service).
