Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Me too

I am another former Allstate employee. There is a reason that employment with this company is like a turnstile. I left when it affected my mood and my health. No job is worth what this company puts you through. Anxiety attacks after vacations and on Sunday nights just thinking about what awaits you..
I never had a vacation that I could enjoy as the work just piles up while you are gone and then you are told it is your organization.........
The company was once a great place to work......
I left the insurance industry and I am happier and healthier...
Allstate is a case study in a toxic work environment..

Long-term 20+ year employee here. When I left another carrier to come here, I was impressed with all of the nameplates bearing names and tenure of 20+ years. I was really proud and enjoyed working at "Big Blue." All of our leaders where home-grown. Things started to slide when WIlson and then Shapiro came on board. Nothing is the same and now it us "just" a job. Please RIF me so I can retire.

“For the LDU person wanting to do something different. In a normal environment I’d say talk to your manager, but that might be an exercise in futility.“

Depends on the manager. Some are good. If yours is of the good ones ask. If not don’t because asking will only place a target on your back since they need to make sure you don’t have the confidence to ask questions. Really it depends on their unique situation. You know your boss better than anyone. Hope it helps.

Obviously times are super tough with not a ton on internal job postings out there, but I would recommend that you look at the Business Areas on Allconnect.
Some of them have really good descriptions of their functions. That might help you figure out what you want to do next. But I’d think based on what you do now, figuring out how you use your influencing and negotiating skills should land you something you enjoy.
Good luck.

You hit it on the head my friend.
Almost everyone above director have been hired
From the outside during Wilson’s tenure. They have no loyalty to the Allstate employee. The only loyalty is to a slashed expense budget....
Shapiro brought over many of the same
Folks that declared war on the liberty mutual employee base and left their morale decimated..

Got RIF'd last year when they decided that having Cali workers was not worth the trouble. Allstate went downhill when CI and G.S. came on board. When the DPA was eliminated and the "lower expenses" mantra began, the writing was on the wall. Love how companies use terms like "Transformative Growth" and "eliminating redundancy". The reason these new executives can do this and sleep at night is because they did not come from Allstate. All of G.S.'s sycophants came from other companies and have no regard or loyalty to the long-term Allstate employees who gave their professional lives to the Company.
On another topic, the music selection of "Celebrate" and "Another Brick in the Wall" reportedly played during that last meeting was insensitive and tacky. These so-called "leaders" have no class.

What do you do now? I’ve been in claims for 14 years (LDU at a different company and field auto here) and would love to get out of insurance claims, but not sure what to do instead, it’s been my career since I was 22
