Does restructuring breed nepotism?

Question: Does restructuring breed nepotism?

Quite a few employees RIFd across the board. Sounds like IT and Ops had more than 10% each based on what's on this forum.

IT folks land with good jobs depending on their skills. However, ex-Ops ppl struggle as the industry is struggling.

The newcomers (new senior-mid mgmt) don't want the existing folks as they want to make space to bring in their own teams from past companies -regardless of merit.

whoever is pulling JRs strings needs to step it up. Have you ever been in one of his Town Halls? Watching paint dry is more exciting.

In IT it is clear where the inside baseball is happening. ACN has alumni now pulling JRs strings so we are flooded with folks asking how to do stuff while billing out at 150+ per hour. Can't wait to see how AIG700 turns out, assuming AIG isn't a defunct company by then. Many will say good riddance.

Yes, it does breed nepotism. But a gambling business has no choice but to restructure every time a Cat hits.

Insurance is gambling!

I was let go from Ops. I worked three months on my job search and joined one of the best companies on this planet. Happy ever since. No such nepotism here.

If you sense nepotism, search a job and get out!

Getting in the good graces of the person who holds the power to fire you should be a no brainer no matter where you are. You can call it "nepotism", but being a social misfit who ignores this basic truth is called "stupid".
