I was let go from SHC five years ago after a 35 year run with Kmart as a buyer. It was a wonderful career until 2010 and then pure hell till I was let go in 2015. It didn’t have to be this way but then again there is a lifespan to all businesses.

Since LC won't talk, the only "official" list of Sears Hometowns is the store locator on the Sears Hometown website, and it's so out of date the majority of phone numbers are dead and there are other businesses at many of the listed addresses. It's reflective of HE's awareness of the Hometown situation too, because no one sees it as their problem.

Seritage liquidated a bunch dozen properties, issued shares to Eddie, paid off a bunch of cash dividends it couldn't afford to said shares so TransformCo could pay off vendors who were about to force it into bankruptcy. It's the reason that Sears isn't paying rent to Seritage too. He's up to his self-dealing tricks as usual.

There are far more than 8 small format stores. 100's of Hometown Sears exist.

The Kmart in Brooklyn has its own store number, btw. It's 4731.

Brooklyn N.Y. is not listed as a kmart in our daily sales. There are 2 Bronx stores, a New York store, a white plains and a Bridgehampton. I'm not saying it's not a kmart. It's just not counted as one.

@mbr+16fpyw64 From what I’ve read, miserable associates and unhappy customers have been the norm for years...

KINO? LOL!! Such a cute little acronym.

Because Transformco (and its predecessor SHC) are so wonky, Sears and Kmart have operated autonomously of one another. They have separate point of sale systems, etc. People working at this Brooklyn Kmart cannot work at the Sears side, even though it's in the same building, and vice versa. They're two totally separate stores, with their own corporate assigned store numbers.

So, yes, this Kmart most definitely is counted and is among 35 non-liquidating stres right now, as far as I'm concerned.

Cheerleaders are getting desperate. No doubt once the company is down to closing its last stores they'll still be proclaiming "It's on a comeback!!!!!!!!!!"

Whether its counted twice or not does not really matter at this point because soon enough, the store count will be 0..... and 0x2 will still equal zero.

It matters only if you are counting total Sears and Kmart locations, in which case you don't want to count this one twice.

35 Kmarts including this one
67 Sears (59 full-size, 8 small-format)
101 total (93 full-size, 8 small-format)

Why does it matter? People get worked up and what does it accomplish? Nothing. If you want to call it a Kmart fine, if you don’t that’s fine too. No reason to argue 100 times and have the same result. Last time I checked that was the definition of insanity.

Maybe if they hire anybody, those people will stay long enough to assist in the liquidation of the location to prepare it for the next retailer to move in.

That's KINO (Kmart in name only). It's actually a Sears that sells a few silly grocery items in their basement as a novelty, much as Burger King sells crispy tacos on their value menu. Nobody would confuse Burger King for a Mexican restaurant. This is actually Sears hiring people to work in their basement moving a few cereal boxes around. For all intensive purposes this is a Sears job not Kmart.
