The Energy Select Sector SPDR — a popular way to track energy companies — lost 3.9% last week. The worst performer was E&P biggie ConocoPhillips COP whose stock slumped 7.2%.
OP hasn't a clue how earnings are calculated.
It seems like the right strategy to curtail while prices are terrible (2nd quarter) and then ramp up with surge production when prices improve(3rd quarter).
