Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Why take an assessment when our productivity is easily accessible?

If we are data driven company then why not look at that data to identify your top performers to keep or move into another role? The numbers don’t lie but your “leaders” do.

They want to make sure they have the "skills of the future".

Might also be a good way to weed out older employees, if the perception is that they're not as change agile, etc.

Allstate has perpetuated a culture of bad behavior, because there’s no consequences. My manager straight out said to me, of course with no witnesses “ I can make, break or stall your career chose your next move wisely”. I understood that as a professional threat if I talked to HR about the numerous actions that affected the business, myself and my peers. Your HR Manager protects the managers and up as they aren’t looking to end their own career. If they were doing their job majority of these situation wouldn’t continue or escalate. Blame is to had all around.

HR is nothing more than making sure that things are neat and tidy to prevent lawsuits. It has nothing to do with protecting the employee.
I remember when we went to HR with some. Laid concerns on our MCM.
The HR rep said that we should speak to HIM about it...as opposed to any investigation...we should commit career s–c-de by speaking to HIM...
So much for anonymity...so
Much about this “integrity” that is constantly being preached...
Deal with Allstate HR at your own peril...
Everything is words and only words....
I plug my nose when we have that yearly compliance....Integrity only matters with front line employees and when it does not affect company profit...
Read the consumer reports story from February of 2020 how people were knowingly overcharged if they were considered unlikely to leave.........then talk to me about Allstate integrity...
I am sure that there will be all kinds of thumbs down by directors and above.........

@1lpz+16ektLr2 Bad and downright illegal behaviors from managers and up run rampant at Allstate. I’ve seen people with witnesses, emails and detailed documentation report bad/illegal behavior internally, not once has it changed a damn thing. Internal investigations are a joke it’s all lawsuit avoidance they will not admit any wrongdoing. HR covers for the chosen ones as the keep each other’s secrets. If anything the person you report is coming after you with a vengeance and your life becomes pure hell. The turnover at Allstate for employees 5 years and less is through the roof! All HR has to do is look at the numbers, follow the trends and READ the exit surveys. Allstate isn’t just losing market share because of price they are running good employees out the door which has impacted the business more then Tom or Glenn will admit.

"Leaders never lie"
I watched a coworker on my team get bullied not only by 2 other coworkers, but our CSL as well. A few of us spoke up and told the CSL that we actually witnessed events that were actionable and the CSL covered for the bully over and over while being condescending and unprofessional to my teammate. This leader was heard multiple times by other leaders and nothing was ever done. I felt so bad for my coworker, I learned a lot from them and it was a huge loss to our team.

My teammate was hard working, very smart and had a lot of potential. It made the CSL and the bullies feel threatened. I quit and went to another insurance company because of it. The same CSL treated others poorly and it reflected in their PDS. There is definite favoritism and mismanagement. Leadership needs to have people skills and knowledge in certain units. This CSL is a terrible example of Allstate and our unit has lost many good people to competitors like myself because of it. Sad.

current system certainly is poor as a metric. Only legitimate portion is raw production for some roles but still not 100%. Quality reviews yes very flawed and leadership principles obviously designed as subjective as can make them to bless their friends. Good way to screw over targeted people. The test is more to measure learning agility so yes future business skills.

Yes bad leaders lie. Some have integrity. Numbers are hard to lie on but can be rigged like anything else. Not as easy to fabricate like leadership principles but still.

Not an expert here and I'm assuming I'll be laid off, but isn't the assessment about future business skills? As far as the performance, the system we have is trash

It’s so dumb.. why take a personality test to see if we’re suited to a job we’ve been doing successfully for decades..it’s ridiculous and insulting
