Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I retired in 2013, how did we get here?

Now I am reading all these negative posts - it's more than clear that the worker is unhappy.

How did we get here?

Good luck all!

Not the ones I talk too except the ones who bleed Exxon and are full of themselves.

This is 0.0000001 percent of the workers. Hardly a representation of how the employees feel about the company. Most employees are proud of XOM.

I worked for XTO. Believe me when I say this....Nobody wishes that Exxon hadn't purchased XTO more than legacy XTO employees.

XTO was a sh– buy at the top of the oil cycle >$100/bbl. EM would be better off without purchasing XTO and tbh, XTO would be one of the companies going bankrupt right now had they not been bought out.

To the gentleman that took a shot at XTO.Xto was doing just fine till EM Sent in the employee’s to run the rigs. One burn rig.None of them knew anything about downhole .They cost EM millions .EM personal trying to run a land operation like a offshore operation. From the top to the bottom in Midland have never been on many land rigs. All you hear well I’ve been overseas for 35 yrs running a offshore project.I could go on about how much money the EM employees waste that would take days.XTO personal can drill holes under AFE EM employees don’t and never will make money for the company.

@1tsb it was never this bad. A decade ago, Exxon was still profitable, if you recalled we had a pile of cash.. which had eroded over the years due to really awful decisions like XTO. Assuming he retied in 2013, he would not have see what we are seeing today. If you recalled, Woods was putting the blame on Rex.. it looks like a pot calling the kettle black situation now.

You just retired and you've never been through an oil price downturn? Really?

Lol. Really, you were asking "how we got here" when you literally were involved with the "best" time period the company experienced.

You also retired before the company had any real problems. Prior to 2014, problems were, how can we get the oil out of the ground at >$100/bbl as soon as possible. For the past 5 years the company has been going, how do we keep this profitable.

Someone coming out of retirement prior to 2014 and looking at the state of the company asking how we got here is INCREDIBLY ignorant as to what has been going on for the last 5 years.

Most people in Supervisor or Manager positions should not have been promoted at XOM. Investors should run.

Wokeness and promoting people who should not have been promoted.

Not to mention managers only caring about themself and not the employees that’s the lead. They are bosses not leaders
