Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Management Layoffs

Does anyone have information or an educated guess as to how many managers were recently let go? I thought I read 800 somewhere but not sure. Also any guess regarding the number of layoffs by level and the M/F split?

Do people think the demographics of the layoffs were fair and representative of the company as a who;e?

If you’re crew missed a due date don’t worry. Happens again you’re fired. If the first line doesn’t go to the next due date and help the technician finish, the supervisor is fired. That has come down from senior management. No more sitting around and telling others to hurry up. Managers are scored on completions now.

One Poster mentions +- 12k. That sounds about right, as there were nearly 12k user id deactivations over the month of July. Those are users that left the business, both contractors and employees.

Not at the point of being fired on the second miss but was advised to get his boss involved in the process much earlier if there are roadblocks that might cause a missed due date. Waiting for the weekly status report updates is unacceptable. Sounds like the atmosphere I heard from a couple of people in Mobility in the past.

The lay-offs have just started. Stank sent a company-wide video this week, saying that “we” will respond aggressively to the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus, and that there is no end in site.

And upper management continues to warn of significant lay-offs to come in the short-term.

Also, the employees who are being re-badged as contractors are not counted as lay-offs, which is under-handed and deceptive.

And, no, there is no transparency regarding the numbers, positions, management levels, etc., of those being layed-off, either internally or externally. Only senior management knows, and they keep a tight lid on the information.

Any information shared here is fragmented, limited in scope, and not representative of what is going on company-wide.

Or if you have young children that prevent you from working more than 10 hours a day.

If you are close to 50, and/or 18 years with the company, get ready
