Is there anybody here who can identify anything positive to come out of all the changes that have been implemented in the past year?
Anything that you could point to and say, yes this is much better and it's made us a better organization than we were before?
Don’t let this site fool you into thinking it’s all doom and gloom. There are definitely a lot of problems, more in some orgs than others. However, plenty of managers and BU’s acknowledge the very real culture problems, including rewarding the wrong behaviors in certain people for a long time. How the company executes this culture change initiatives will decide the ultimate fate of those improvements. Still, acknowledging those problems to me seems like a huge step that the old Exxon would never have done.

I think things have to get worse before they get better.
Positive changes come from true reflection of weaknesses and a desire to improve for common good.
When the desire is for self-good and shameless management appeasement, and if the changes are driven because the big boss said so, the outcomes will be nothing but a mere formality.
Cultural change is what the company needs but it is very hard to achieve by slight of hand by few, mere formality of reorgs, and on paper procedural changes.
