Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Just got Laid off

Furloughed for a month and laid off by DXC just now. I was a week into furlough. Two weeks severance pay was offered.

I'm really bummed out and ticked off about the whole ordeal

I have over 30 years in IT. I have never in that time seen or even heard of a company as totally messed up as DXC is. I was a contract to hire, working from home. When the time came to convert I took stock of what I had seen in the last 5 months. The HR is a mind bending mess. Technical services if you need them is nearly unusable due to the fact that most of the personal there can't speak understandable English. The VPN network and associated password system is god awful. It s—ed at least 3 hours out of me a month.

In the end being unemployed was more desirable than converting to a full time employee.

Annual reviews and surveys are meaningless.

FYI on severance (Americas) for those affected:

Up to 3 years - 2 weeks
3 –> 5 years - 4 weeks
5 –> 9 tears - 5 weeks
9 –> 15 years - 6 weeks
15 years or more - 8 weeks max

I would have expected more, but again - I also would have expected a raise over the span of 5 years.

“...it's hard for them to see the good workers.”

That’s because there AREN’T any good workers at DXC. It is a collection pool fir those who cannot secure a real job.

You have no basis to be bitter or surprised by a lay-off. Anyone with two functioning brain cells knows they are constantly being considered for the trash can.

Two weeks severance pay, I wouldn't sign anything to get that. I'd tell them to f' off .

How many years were you with the company and where are you from the US , UK, India where?

Well if it makes you feel better, HPE cut our pay, gave me a severance based on that pay cut, and then proceeded to purchase a company for $1billion while still dishing out dividends. According to execs, they're just "not meeting budget goals" and hence the mass layoffs. It's ironic... why am I being let go for poor decision making?

Anyone gotten the compensation emails yet? I'm really surprised I have not gotten one.

This company is complete garbage. They talk about how they changed but it’s still the same.

I was told I was going to get an email with the severance information and I have not gotten anything yet. I emailed my supervisor, I"m still waiting. He said both him and HR would sent me something.

Do you have to sign a non-disparagement agreement to get the severance? If so, is the length of the agreement time-limited?

300 people, wow that's insane. I felt like this whole organization is disorganized but that's expected with a company so big. At a management level, it's hard for them to see the good workers. I expected it too, to be honest but I'm still shocked. (I'm the orginal poster)

Same here, except I was furloughed almost 3 weeks. I expected it, but not this soon. I’m p-ss-d off as well—It was done so badly and the last 6 months or so were awful with nonexistent management and mixed messages.
