Anybody working in the warranty realm?

Anybody work with warranty data? How is that realm of Ford? Good to work there? Good people? Relatively safe? Good management ?

Dont know your career stage but i presume you are a entry level (0-4 yrs) person. Hows the warranty realm vs. how good is it to work for Ford are two diff questions.

About warranty. Let me blunt and say Ford/Lincoln is not Toyota/Lexus in terms of quality. So, you will have PLENTY of failed parts that have come from the field that you could get a chance to analyze and learn a lot from it. Cost of Quality/Warranty, Warranty based pricing (of cars) etc. are nice concepts to learn.

As far as management, less said the better. Most managers are sub-standard like our cars. Lot of politics, and yes-men/women (which if you are early career you dont have to worry a lot). Just a terrible place to work. Having said that, Ford is a great company to learn IF YOU ARE JUST STARTING YOUR CAREER. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT STAY THERE FOR LONGER THAN 3 YEARS. Ford is a company that you join early in the career, learn a lot, and after you are vested in the 401K company contribution, you get the hell out.

Should be good job security given Ford's numerous recalls! However, this area would be prime for outsourcing to low cost bidder located in a jungle somewhere.

Not my area but I do know they have an army and a new software system.
Manager has reputation for brown nosing and has an authoritarian management style.
