And it just so happens that the majority of companies that offer IT managed services are in India.

Labor arbitrage. It's been happening for decades in the manufacturing sector. Now that fast, reliable internet is mostly available everywhere, it's taking off in all sectors.
Nice of Anthem to be promoting IT Directors and Managers while they lay the rest of the workers off though.
IT is not viewed as a revenue generating function but as an expense center or what I call a vampire function. Anthem stated months ago that Anthem is not a software/ IT company. Leadership is moving to offshore or outsource all possible IT.
It's a very good question. Most likely of all the departments in Anthem it's the one of the greatest lack of understanding between business leaders. Business leaders somehow have made an art of not knowing into a virtue. Anthems business leadership is built on cronyism not merit. Anyways corporate power in America has become so unrestrained that they don't even pretend anymore to listen to employees. I would encourage employees to start organizing. I don't like unions but Anthem definitely needs one in some shape or form. Anthem's leaders are both arrogant and incompetent whereas in other companies they are arrogant but competent and have some sense of giving them a bone here and there for rational purposes. Guys and Gals it's time to stop whining on these discussion forums and start organizing.
