I see a bunch of jobs posted by Dell on Linkedin. How is this possible?
Are we laying off older and better paid people just to immediately replace them with younger folks?
Does not sound legit.

Don't think they are actually hiring, just fake listings. When I applied for one of the openings couple of weeks ago, got a response today saying "we are still in the process of reviewing candidates against the hiring criteria"
Class action lawsuit?
Pretty much
There is supposedly a hiring freeze at Dell, but is see posts of graduate interns being hired.
Unless you are protected by a union contract most all companies do it and it has been going on for years. The COVID pandemic just gave businesses a way to make it look acceptable.
The Austin American Statesman news paper Sunday classified section has many dell jobs posted. The title of those jobs match exactly with that of the laid off folks. This is Michaels own home town newspaper. This is a plan to fire old Americans and replace them with younger folks. Age discrimination! Many of the new recruits are foreigners. Violation of immigration laws!
Dell is an evil place. They offer you 3rd partycareer counseling service yet offer no dedicated Dell HR team to look for Dell opening and try to re-position people. Companies like SFDC and VMware seem to be doing a MUCH better job of prioritizing re-hiring furloughed staff before looking to outside people. I have seen abusive/horrible mid-level managers retain their jobs and even rise in the ranks while some excellent managers have been downgraded to individuals contributors. Meanwhile Michael Dell fancies himself philanthropist. Take several seats Mikey. The word is getting out about Dell.
