Thread regarding Collins Aerospace layoffs

Why has Mexicali avoided the knife????

Anyone hear or layoffs in Mexicali which is predominately manufacturing and engineering? I haven’t? Why are they remaining untouched? Possible rite to replace CV and Riverside???? What’s everyone’s thoughts on what’s really going on here?

To the ....it’s pretty obvious poster......I understand the LCC snd Mexicali strategy but if mfg levels (especially) 787 are way down, you would think there would be cute in Mexicali too. What are those employees working on?????? Just saying......

It's pretty obvious why Mexicali hasn't been hit, it shouldn't really need an explanation. But if you're truly that oblivious, the average wage in Mexicali is about a third (in some cases even way less) of those in the States. Collins makes a k–ling by exploiting such cheap labor there and continually tries their best to move over non-complicated product lines to maximize profit. Mexicali is Collin's breadmaker and will not touch it unless it is in truly dire straits.

Riverside (50%) of work is moving to Mexicali. I’ve been told this.
