Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

This is ridiculous

Has one person who actually deserved to be laid off been shown the door in this round? I know a few people who contribute a big, fat zero and yet they're still here. Why is this always the case?

Similar to the other person, I’m not a bootlicker. Finally another person who is elated like me that I can.t stop being happy from being riffed. It’s weird to feel that way. Some people say that maybe I’m still numb in shock. I don’t think so since I feel all happy. If anything, I feel bad about not feeling bad about it.

How strange, that in all those quarterly meetings for years, we were told that the company wasn’t making any money, and yet they soldiered on valiantly. Now, all of a sudden, results are better than expected, and layoffs are essential. Seems like a bit of a shell game to me.

I hate to sound like a typically disgruntled former employee but this is true. I exceeded my number first half, I was repeatedly told by my team and colleagues that I was the hardest working person they knew. I was also at the top of my pay scale, and when my team was decimated, I was among the casualties. I knew my income made me a target. But I couldn't help but look around at some of the people you would say "what does that guy even do?"manage to keep their jobs. That stung.

I know of a few that should've been laid off or performance managed out that were let go.

Why, because the id–ts who do nothing are up management's butt. I could run circles around everyone on my team, because I was reserved and kept my mouth shut and didn't s— up to my manager or his manager, who by the way should not be in their positions, it was me who got picked. Along with several others who had the same mindset as me. If you don't kiss a– in this company, you will never get anywhere. I'm elated I'm out, best thing in my life is when I was told you are being riffed.

I realized that no matter how hard you perform your best, there's always behind the scene that you are not aware of. Favoritism, skillset, etc. I don't regret it anymore. Been working there for 6 years and I'm happily at ease somewhere else.
