Ughh. I am dreading my “sync” call tomorrow with my boss that was scheduled late last week. Wish it was early in the day. Mine is scheduled at 3PM. Tempted to be “sick” tomorrow.

Not US IT only, I was hit. Based out of Massachusetts, not in IT.

Brutal is an understatement....lost several great coworkers today in IT. Theres no apparent rhyme or reason either as to how they chose people.

Unless im missing something, seems to be only US IT and only US employees in general who were affected

H1Bs in Dell is under 5%.. so they are not our worry at the moment rather keeping low performers should be...

I am sure there are H1-Bs that are smart and paid more than Americans. But I bet 80% of them are paid less than prevailing. I have noticed that as soon as they get the greencard/ability to move out of dell, each one of this so called highly paid immigrants leave. That tells me they were paid less

Companies want a stronger talent pool. They do not care about H1B or B1H or yadda yadda. They want someone who can provide more value. Microsoft/Dell/Google/Intel and many more Top companies actually pay visa holders the same or more. If one is talking about body shopping or consultancies then its a different story.

While letting folks go, they also hire visa holders as cheaper resources. Check Austin American Statesman classified every Sunday. There are plenty of help wanted from Dell. I am not blaming the visa holders because they are like everyone else. But what Dell does to Americans is quite unfair. Instead of doing lip service about racism, George Floyd, minorities, they should keep Americans in the payroll
