Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Better today than later in the week

I am already a complete mess - if there're going to be layoffs I'd rather hear about the results today than have to go through this same feeling for another several days. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. But sadly, from the look of things, we'll really have to wait.

Doesn’t surprise me they’re cutting Massachusetts people. Company wants the IP, but not the talent, and then they wonder why they can’t move the ISG business.

Lots of MA employees since January this year. They have been doing them steadily every month.

For the person in services, what role did your coworker have? SSR, SSE, SAE, DCSP, SP?

My co-worker (I'm in services) just got laid off and we are based in the US. He's getting a severance package, but still s—s that he's gone.

Well for the person stating that they are a complete mess, I get that.

However, how would you like to be blindsided by what you thought was your rescheduled call with you manager? How would you feel if you always gave 100% only to be f—ed up the a– and told your being let go do to WFR? You're in a better position, trust me there. Foresight into what may be is better than not know and getting totally f—ed.

Jeff Clark, Scanell, etc are so arrogant and pompous they couldn't care less about the "Little People" in the company. Michael Dell and company will not have a fleeting thought regarding the folks they've f—ed over with their layoffs. And for the little s— a– managers/directors, they are just as bad. They will shove the knife in your back no sooner than look at you. And for the person stating if you don't like it leave, why don't you leave? You're just a minion kiss a–.

Laid off today from Dell. I’m in a bit of shock but not that much considering they have lay offs allll the time. Every quarter, Covid or no Covid. They do pay severance so count the blessings there - 2 months plus a week for every year. Some folks may have contracts that offer more but I think I got the standard package. It could have been handled better, could have been worse. It’s a good company but I wasn’t in love with my role there, although it had potential to be better. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise for me personally.

I don't work for Dell. I know people who do. Wake up and see what is happening. I am not complaining. I am stating facts.

If you hate Dell and it's cooperate America culture so much, why don't you leave and switch to a job that isn't greedy instead of complaining here?

This is a total cash grab by Dell Technologies. Layoffs are NOT needed. They are taking advantage of the economic uncertainty caused by Covid and grabbing cash to pay down the debt faster. There has been two consecutive great quarters despite the covid pandemic. Where companies like airlines are truly suffering, companies like Dell are booming so as to facilitate the work from home new normal. They started with cutting merit increases, then promotions, then the matching 401K contribution. They got $289.9 million from the government from the CARES act. They announced yesterday that they paid down the debt by $3.8 BILLION last quarter. Yes, they need to layoff people to pay off the debt faster which increases Michael Dell's equity in the company faster. At what cost? The cost of unnecessary job cuts and layoffs. This is corporate America at its finest, screwing the workers, who now work at home, paying the cost of their own internet access, consuming their own electricity to power Dell machines, consuming their one AC/heating costs, water, sewage, etc. while Dell cuts salaries, provides no ongoing stipend to cover additional work from home costs, and grabs more cash to accelerate Michael's equity in the company. It is disgusting. It is the workers who delight the customers, and this is how they are treated, with this unnecessary layoff.

It was horribly unprofessional how they just dropped that random comment about staff reductions in the middle of the earnings call after saying how positive the quarter was and then just went on to other things like it didnt even happen.

And then boom......radio silence. Terribly handled and not a good way to treat your employees by leaving this big looming cloud over their heads.
