Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate dropped the ball

I have been with Allstate over 4 years and up until recently it has always been an excellent place to work. I understand that Allstate wants to be #1 in insurance but they have completely mishandled the layoffs. I respect they are being honest with us and also giving 60 day notice and a severance package but now they are saying cuts will last all of 2021 and no department or employee is safe. Who would want to work somewhere like that? If you are going to cut jobs then cut them but dragging it out especially during a pandemic is cruel. My lease ends in May and even if I survive the cuts I'm thinking of leaving and even open to relocating because I don't like the direction the company is headed.

Tom Wilson has been around way too long (since Allstate went public) and yet his only response has been to eliminate jobs over and over. Layoffs and regional closings have been going on for the past 20 years at Allstate (and how’s that working for you Tom). Once the attrition rolls into showing a profit it becomes apparent the company can’t survive without adding people. Hiring begins and a few years down the line layoffs begin anew. Even a 4th grader can manage a company this way. Question... Tom are you smarter than a 4th grader???

We were also told by our leadership that layoffs will also occur in 2021.

To the previous posts. My division manager said that the layoff next month is just the beginning and there will be cuts also next year. I'm not encouraging anyone not to get their severance. In fact I encourage everyone to stay this year and see if they get laid off and if so take the severance. Remember I said my lease is up in may, so may is when I'm looking at leaving if cuts are still happening which my DM and direct manager both said will happen next year. Plus they said lots of jobs will go to India and look and behold I went on the jobs website and about a dozen jobs were posted that same day for India.

So you're just doing the lay off work for them. If enough people leave just based on them saying job cuts will continue, they won't actually have to actively cut anyone or pay severance.
