Looking through the Follett Jobs website, I happen to notice postings for positions that could have been filled by someone recently laid off, not that I would ever go back to that sh–show. Why am I on that site anyway you may ask? I am bitter, I am disappointed, I was humiliated. I was laid off from my position at Follet that I gave my all and that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was senior in the department but one of the first to be let go. There are a few still on the payroll with a year of seniority who are also friends with, worked in previous jobs with, relatives, etc. that have no skills, but someone protected them. Total BS if you ask me. Follett has this attitude that the position will be posted and if youre interested, then apply. THATS MY OLD POSITION!!!!!! This shows you the lack of empathy management has to their loyal employees. Hope all managers and supervisors sleep well at night knowing others are struggling to find work and seeing their positions posted on Indeed. Pathetic!

I was bitter too after being "LaidOff". I also had more years then my coworkers, one of them made massive errors. I was out they stayed on? Hard pill to swallow. Took a while but I realized how Lucky I am to be away from the toxic people running that place. I use to come to this page weekly but now come every few months just to see how the ones still there are. I now work with and for people who appreciate my hard work ethic. There is life after Follett and it is a great one!
Follett was already running satellite stores with 1 person years ago, if they were lucky they were titled ASM, but assistant to who???
"Assistant to the Regional Manager", like Dwight Schrute.
This is excellent advice folks.
"Don't be bitter. The ship is sinking, you are no longer hanging onto an anchor. Swim away and find new waters."
Being bitter only impacts your well being, the company has long forgotten about you. Have confidence and move forward. This is an opportunity for you.
This ship is not going to right itself, because all management does is rearrange the chairs on the deck.
As Bob Seger would say, I feel like a number.
Follett only sees you as a number.

That is the aim; cost cutting. SMI replaced by ASM, etc. B&N will run a satellite with a single person, no HS equivalency required. It's Just Follett late again to what all companies are doing. Feed the top the grindings of the lowers.

Company is dying a painful death
I hear you. I have seen my old position posted as well. I was able to make some discreet inquires through contacts still inside the company. The position pays less then I was making, no bonus, twice the work. As hard as it may be I am going to continue to look elsewhere. Good riddance Follett.
The company is looking for short-term survival. They are squeezing pennies everywhere they can. I'm surprised they are actually hiring anybody at all.
