Active Tracks: Softly, Slowly, Remotely - tiny dancer

Relevant to a recent post,
my omnischite supervisor informed me just yesterday,
I'd had many hour-long lapses in my active computer time during the month of May.
Daily through-out the days...

This information despite the fact I had IM'd each time I expected to be away from the tracker machine. Several things going on at the time required this. Not all work-related.

Methinks - this is evidence for elimination. Just the mention of it made my skin crawl.
Supervisor, overseer, whipmaster. Not trained for it - just their nature.
Unnatural.

RSIGuard is part of the pc base load, right? How many people cover their laptop camera? I know I do.

In Belgium the badge-in and badge-out times are proof of how many hours you have worked (enough/not enough) according to Belgian legislation (and monitored by BKK). For some employees it records "hours in the building", which is sometimes something quite different of course.
There is a clear distinction between OTS-personnel (no university degree and mostly only older women). Nowadays a bachelor degree can count as MPT-classification but this was not the case back in the day - promotions from OTS to MPT were rare (mostly reserved for men).

OTS must by law declare overtime and get it approved by the SPV when exceeding a number of hours (per day). Same law applies to MPT (= all employees except higher management) but EM has a different interpretation of that law and gets away with it!

If an OTS works more than the max amount of 11 hours in a day, the supervisor gets a reprimand email from HR to remind the OTS of the rules. You can imagine that supervisors prefer no OTS in their group because of the restrictions, which are bypassed for MPT. An OTS regularly works (only) MPT jobs but does not get the salary or other benefits, the OTS is under higher pressure because needs to finish the (MPT) work within the hours set by law; lunch break must be recorded as unpaid time even if that break was used to work). OTS cannot save days into a very advantageous pension plan which is reserved to MPT, OTS cannot put in voluntary extra hours to meet a project deadline, OTS cannot travel outside business hours, the list goes on ...

Any other country where this discrimination exists? BTW: OTS are since years the "first" because cheaper group of people to let go.

@2tiv+16UIx96F. - referring to a fellow EM colleague as a troll, really? I've seen the reports on the internet access -it contains an employee name, a 7 digit LAN ID along with all the internet sites a person visits and how long they "lingered" on those sites. It is a monthly report. And, it goes up the food chain. And, they definitely track paper usage. Security manages your badge access and can see when you access your building (and in some places like our Hannover office can see when you leave). If you haven't noticed we measure and track everything. Big waste of time..THAT'S MY POINT. If you haven't noticed how we measure everything, maybe you are the troll.

Don't have the ergo app installed you troll. And no, they do not monitor or care about your keystrokes.

Paper usage is ready to understand since that is actively sent across the network and tied to your LAN.

I understand the tracking of hours 'off-line', websites, paper usage - because the tools are there.
Tools have been there, but now have value.
Simply cannot afford packages, so need easy separation for cause reasons.

The supervisors that come up with the best techniques for doing this.
Get to stay. That is also being measured.

Hey @1xgn+16UIx96F - you either don't work for EM or you have your head in the sand. I've personally seen the reports...they have reports of what internet sites you visit and for how long you visit those sites...and the reports go pretty far up the food chain. Have you ever wondered about the little Ergo app that pops up and tells you to move? Have you not noticed it tracks your key strokes? They also know how much paper you use when you print. Were you aware that of? Another colleague was asked if he could consider using less paper, he asked what they meant and they said the report said he was on the list for being the biggest paper consumer on the team. I learned a lot of this from our admin...who showed me the reports. We measure everything even if it doesn't help the bottom line. This is one of the reasons why we aren't making money.

Highly doubt they XOM is keeping an eye on everyone's key strokes. Too many Data Privacy laws in EA. Do they keep track of the extra time I'm working? Doubtful.

So I work for another major O&G company. I have seen the reports on this. It comes with the badge in and badge out times to the office. We used to be very lax on vacation and when you took Comp time. But they started to track all of that very tight as well. Why, so that the report can make sense. Otherwise it doesn’t and they can’t baseline it’s.

All of this stuff is tracked and reported. So if we are doing it then I imagine EM is, you all are way more strict then we are.

What happened to say something do something right there. May was 5 months ago. Will they try to find any petty reason they can come up with? Especially when some of these flexibility policies are supposedly encouraged.

Pretty sad state of affairs if we have to be so micromanaged. Maybe some of us are on conference calls and we need to pay attention (no key strokes on the computer for a 6 hr call). If EM management stopped counting their employees' computer key strokes and did some real work, we might not be in the situation we are.

Wow. So do we get off in lieu if we work on weekends? We should! Or just stop working extra hours. Let’s do the latter!
