Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Store closures announcements

When will B&N announce store closures? Century 21 just announced they are going out of business. American Eaglevis now closing 500+ stores. JC Penny was sold. Tiffany is in danger with LVMH deal called off. What is next for B&N? How will they survive-they can no longer afford to have the store properly cleaned.

We will not wear masks more than a few minutes to get groceries, that's it!
We quit going to Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, the movies, restaurants, etc.
We re-discovered a more tranquil family life at home.
We read books and magazines from our public library's web site.
We've saved thousands of $$$
Now we can retire early!

Hey Bronko,
Thanks so much for your DISINFO!
CDC guidelines are (10 wear masks); (2) socially distance; (3) wash hands frequently.
CDC HAS NO GUIELINE TO LIMIT HOW MUCH TIME YOU SHOULD SPEND IN ANY BUSINESS – WHETHER A GROCERY, OR A RESTAURANT, OR A BUS, OR PLANE, OR A MOVIE THEATER OR A BOOKSTORE!!!
This college-educated bookstore customer understands that, obviously you do not.

Well, Barry O'Bummer, sorry you're so upset about a local business following CDC guidelines to try to keep people healthy and stay open. I would have thought that a college-educated bookstore customer would understand that.

B&N in Austin, Texas was closed for a couple of months. Then they re-opened in May (?) but only
till 5:30pm My wife and I are retired, we used to go every day, buy coffee and something to eat,
and "linger"!!!

Now they took out all the seating, except for 1/2 of the cafe.
Nazi-like employees regularly walk through the store and tell people they can't sit on the floor!

We used to spend $2,000 a year in the cafe and buying books. But now they tell us we can't
sit don't in the cafe more than 30 minutes!

We complained to 4 different people but they act like zombie/robots, telling us they don't want us to "linger"!

When we tell them that people observing social distancing, and wearing masks, can spend any
time they want in restaurants or movie theaters, they just give us blank stare and they repeat
robotic phrases!!!

We finally reached the manager and she said they took out all the seating because people don't obey the signs. TOTAL BS!
So, semi-literate people who ride the city buses are observing the mask/social distancing but
college-educated bookstore customers are stupid? WTF???

Finally I left in disgust and said I'm never coming back!!!

I discovered a lot of the magazines I used to buy @B&N are available for free online from my
local library!

BYE BYE B&N, WE'RE NEVER EVER COMING BACK!!!

Probably when they are able to be the least responsible for their disaster. I can just imagine corporate is scheming ways to lay off everyone/close and still come out with the least amount of financial loss. The stores may look like they are changing and improving, but it is just a band-aid. The scab is about to get ripped off, and in a painful way. Down with BN.
