Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Not looking forward to the weekend

I used to be ecstatic when Friday rolled around. The moment I was off the clock my mood would improve drastically. I miss that feeling. Now, it's all the same. Worry during workdays, worry during weekends. By the time Monday is back, my batteries feel anything but recharged. I really wish I had the option to leave...

You sound like an @$$hole but you’re mostly correct. Hopefully people can look past your mean tone and absorb some wisdom.

I’m guessing you’re in claims. I felt the exact same way when I used to do claims at Allstate. My advice- spend ALL your free time( and then some) to leave the insurance industry .. forget geico, progressive, State Farm... just completely switch and do everything you can until it works out and you WILL feel COMPLETELY mentally recharged. I worked at Allstate for 2 years in claims and it was mind-numbingly Horrible/stupid/broken ... i can verify that once you leave and look back and reflect you will have a “WTF” moment when remembering the auto insurance industry

Instead of just worrying, take control and apply for all the jobs that are claims related in internal job postings, if that’s what you want to do. Apply outside of Allstate and every where. It is easy to just sit and complain and not take charge of your life. It’s doubly difficult to land a new position and we all know that; however, sitting there and not doing anything about our current situation is just worst. If I lose my job I would be homeless, literally. Yeah, I don’t sleep or wake up in the middle of the night panicking and it raised my BP for the first time in my life and dark rings under my eyes, which even my physician noticed. But, that doesn’t mean I am just sitting here and waiting for the pink slip and complain. Reach out to recruiters, and apply every where - I pray and hope that we all land on our two feet - no matter who you are or where you are or what you do. Goodluck to all and don’t give up. Keep trying and try to take control back - that’s all I can suggest.

Feels everyone should stop worrying and “a job is just a job”.....then states plenty to stress about when you do get laid off......PICK ONE OR THE OTHER

Nobody is stopping you from leaving. As someone who has already been on furlough and is now fully laid-off, you need a reality check. Yes, it's difficult when your livelihood feels like it's constantly threatened, but you aren't a victim until that happens.

I feel like a lot of you are losing touch with what's going on in the world right now. The idea of your position being threatened is scary, but holy sh– some of you are building self-fulfilling prophecies with this negativity. A job is just a job; do your best when you're working and then learn to let go when you're not. Until my reality becomes yours, I highly recommend you stop complaining. There will be plenty to stress out about if/when you lose your job. Until then, just be thankful you slid past another day and feel sorry for those who didn't.
