Well, I haven't seen any big announcement from the person who said: "come back to this page in three days."

Obviously, someone was just baiting the rest of us with a dramatic bulls**t statement.

Wow! So, they're ditching the Sale Annex? That's insane for A: the reason you mentioned. Lots of people shopped the Sale Annex, including people who would buy V-Carts of mark downs & re-sell them. B: the Sale Annex was consistently outperforming the rest of the store & had been exceeding it's own sales goals for quite some time now. Big mistake to get rid of it, especially in these tough times. Also, lots of people counted on the Sale Annex to make a few bucks selling their own books back.

  • Yeah. I worked at Store 2597, too and never heard a thing. Lots of years of working there and just treated so shabbily. I heard the store was sold to a realtor who is planning on chopping it up into at least 4 retail spaces with B&N being made much smaller, so those there will be reduced. A great USED BOOK department will be gone which was a big attraction to customers from miles away.

It's Friday.

Nothing happened, as expected.

I don't think any more stores will close now before Jan/Feb, I could be wrong. We'll have to see how Covid and the Flu affect the Fall/WInter season.
Who wants to go into a busy store during the holidays? I don't even like going to supermarket when there are lots of people, and how many people are able to spend money on non-essentials anymore, especially books, toys and games?

Did they eliminated HR so there is no one to send the letters? Perhaps they can’t afford the expense of the paper, envelopes and postage to send out the letters. Considering our separation was determined at least by August, they had plenty of time to send them out.

I visited one store, and they radically changed the layout of the entire store. Like, everything was in a new spot. So they are either going to announce their miraculous comeback (doubtful), or the are going the bankruptcy route. Down with BN.

Same here! I'd like to know what's going on. I used to work at store 2597 in NJ. A few weeks ago, the S.M. called me, told me I was to be separated from BN as of Sept.4, & that I'd receive a letter stating that. So far, no letter. I haven't even received other things from BN that I was expecting. Is BN imploding altogether?
