Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Lack of Layoff Letter With UIA Certification Due.

I was contacted by my store manager stating that if hours weren't available as of 9/4, I should be receiving a letter from HR confirming my layoff. Was not called. As of 9/9, I still have not received a letter. Unemployment certification is due for the week of 8/31. Should I go ahead and report 9/4 as my layoff date? Or should I just certify as usual, risking that the letter will give me a "retroactive" layoff date of 9/4, requiring me to call in and correct my certification? This is probably more of a question for the help line, but I wanted to raise it if it would help others.

I just saw that my letter is arriving in the mail today. B&N gets An F for timeliness.

Wait for the letter. It's a pain in the you know what to correct unemployment. Plus they might red flag you in the system. Happened to a friend of mine.
